Showmax adds more sport, including ICC World Cup Final and EFC
Showmax has been busy beefing up its sport offering. Extended highlights from the likes of Wimbledon, the Tour de France, and PGA tournaments, as well as a range of SuperSport’s most popular magazine and talk shows are being added daily. On top of that, a comprehensive collection of sports movies and documentaries is taking shape.
On the live streaming side, Showmax is now adding EFC (Extreme Fighting Championship) bouts and also the ICC Cricket World Cup final between England and New Zealand, which takes place on Sunday, 14 July.
For MMA fans wanting to catch previous action from the Hexagon, more than 40 episodes of previous EFC Premium Fights will also soon be added to Showmax along with 16 Best of EFC shows.
Speaking about the sport additions, Niclas Ekdahl, CEO of MultiChoice’s Connected Video division, said:
“We said we’d be testing out a bunch of things with our sport offering, and we are. The Cricket World Cup viewing activity over the past weeks went way past our expectations, which made it an easy call to live stream the final. As for EFC, it’s local, it’s got a fanatical following, and we’re keen to find out if this is the kind of thing our subscribers would like to see more of.”
The following EFC bouts will be live streamed:
- 10 August, EFC81 from Time Square, Menlyn
- 28 September, EFC82 from Carnival City, Boksburg
- 14 December, EFC83 from Time Square, Pretoria
