Showmax and Laugh Africa announce the Roast of Minnie Dlamini
The Savanna and Showmax Laugh Africa Comedy Festival is set to get tongues wagging with The Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini. Scheduled for Friday, 5 April at the Sandton Convention Centre, this event marks Minnie Dlamini's debut in the world of comedy roasts. Anticipated to be a night of humour and jeering, Dlamini looks forward to a lighthearted take on her illustrious career and personal anecdotes.
Minnie Dlamini shares her enthusiasm: "I ended off the year with my show Curated on Mzansi Magic, embracing humour about myself and societal happenings. The roast is about having fun and not taking myself too seriously. I may also get an opportunity to dispel many of the rumours told about me. The roast is fundamentally a celebration of my career and there’s nothing I love more than a good laugh."
Laura Cooke, Head of PR & Communications at Showmax, adds, "Partnering with Laugh Africa for Minnie Dlamini's roast aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering unique and compelling local content."
The roast will feature a star-studded lineup, and will be recorded live on 5 April 2024. It will air exclusively on Showmax, and is scheduled to air exclusively on Showmax on 26 April 2024.
Laugh Africa is committed to delivering a roast that not only entertains but also honours the essence of what it means to be roasted - a celebration wrapped in humour and affection. “With the Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini, we aim to curate an experience that embodies this spirit. By selecting individuals whose journeys we admire, we ensure that each jest and jab is a testament to their impact and our affection. This approach guarantees a roast that is as heartfelt as it is hilarious, staying true to the tradition of roasting those held in high regard”, says Stuart Taylor, Laugh Africa Comedy Festival Creative Director.

The Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini is a manifestation of the festival's ethos, "And Still We Laugh," embodying the joy and relief comedy brings, especially in unpredictable times. Highlighting Africa's comedic mastery as a celebratory force, this roast aligns with the festival's commitment to showcasing premier comedic talent.
The Laugh Africa Comedy Festival takes place from the 5-7 April 2024 at the Sandton Convention Centre and will feature more than 50 comedians across three langauges - English, Vernacular and Afrikaans - and headlined by the internationally acclaimed comedian Eddie Griffin. The festival will feature local favourites such as Eugene Khosa, Conrad Koch and Chester Missing, Jam Jam The Comedian and Mel Jones. The full festival schedule is available on Ticketpros.
