Silent Night: A Song for the World

Silent Night is singing its way onto Showmax this Christmas in the special doccie Silent Night: A Song For The World.

Christmas is a special time of year as families and friends unite to spend quality time together… and eat until you’re ready to burst. And nothing screams “Christmas” like a carol or two.

We all know Silent Night – it’s brilliant even if you’re off-key. But did you know the world’s most famous Christmas carol was composed in 1818 in Salzburg and has been translated into 140 languages? It’s the song that stopped World War 1 over Christmas and brought enemies together, even just for a day.

The special doccie explores this song and the impact its had around the world. There are performances by Kelly Clarkson, Joss Stone and the Vienna Boys’ Choir. Even Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville gets into the festive cheer as the narrator.

Have yourself a very merry Christmas with Showmax and A Silent Night: A Song For The World.
