Dark secrets, jealousy and greed reign in Mpali, Zambezi Magic’s popular telenovela which follows Nguzu, a tycoon and a polygamist who’s married to six women. Although the clan is united most of the time, drama (and laughter) always follows them because that’s just what happens when you bring a dynamic family such as this one together.
Winner of Most Outstanding TV Series at the Ngoma Awards 2019, Mpali is directed by Frank Sibukku, and stars Monde Mutale, Shakirah Phiri, Wanga Zulu, Anita Namonga, Jemaimah Burton Phiri and Cindy Monde Daka.
Zuba S1-5 | Binge now | New episodes every Monday to Friday
Zuba, which was Zambia’s first telenovela when it premiered in 2018 follows an innocent rural teenage girl, Zuba (Mwaka Mugala), whose dreams of going to fashion school are shattered when she’s tricked by her evil stepmother and “sold off” to work as a housemaid for the wealthy Sosala family in the city. Here, she falls for her employer’s young son, Thando Sosala (played by Elkanah Luam but later replaced by Sam Sakala).
Directed by award-winning Zambian actor and filmmaker Owas Ray Mwape (Strictly By Invitation), Zuba also stars Barbara Maramwidze, Sophia Chapeshamano, Sheba Mwale and Anne Katamanda.
Amooye S1 & 2 | Binge now
Zambezi drama series Amooye tells the story of three women in their late twenties and early thirties, Noni (Kasazi Lungu, Zuba), Muta (Thokoza Mhango) and Wiza (Catherine Mulope), as they try to figure out their careers, friendships and romantic relationships.
The storyline also explores the intricacies and challenges of being an African woman living and working within the realms of an evolving society.
Date My Family Zambia S1-3 | Binge now
Date My Family Zambia is a dating reality series that follows different single people in Zambia as they attempt to find love with three potential dates. But it’s not your typical dating reality – the family is involved in the matchmaking, and it can get embarrassing really fast.
Before the hopeful singles lay their eyes on their potential dates, they have to meet their families (and friends). After which they get to take their pick depending on whether they were impressed by the family or not.
For more dating realities, also stream Date My Family Botswana S1 which follows the same format.
