The Man with the Iron Heart (2017)

This drama is based on the true story of the plot to kill Reinhard Heydrich, the head of the Nazi secret police and the acting Protector of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, which would become Czechoslovakia. Heydrich was also one of the architects of the “Final Solution” to murder all the Jews in the Third Reich.

The film follows his rise to power, and the Czech resistance fighters who planned to assassinate Heydrich in Prague in an operation code-named Anthropoid. Jason Clarke (Brotherhood, First Man) plays Heydrich, while Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) plays his loving wife, Lina.

It’s based on a French novel, HHhH, by Laurent Binet. The title refers to Heydrich’s nickname in German: “Himmler’s Hirn heißt Heydrich” – “Himmler’s brain is called Heydrich”. Hitler himself called Heydrich “the man with the iron heart”.

The Hollywood News said: “The Man with an Iron Heart is a well-acted film recounting one of the bravest assassination attempts in history.”
