The Real Housewives of Durban S2: Londie London’s rise to fame
She’s known for her killer curves, chic outfits and hilarious one-liners in Season 2 of reality show The Real Housewives of Durban. So who is Londie London and what’s her claim to fame?
The Real Housewives of Durban is shaking things up, and for Season 2 the reality show introduced three fabulously stylish and diverse cast members: Thobile “MaKhumalo” Mseleku, Jojo Robinson and model-turned-musician Londiwe Zulu, who’s better known as her stage name Londie London.
The 29-year-old Londie shot to fame in 2015 as a social media influencer, posting selfies and her trendy outfits. She got signed to a major record company, had a few singles on radio and also owns a fashion brand. Londie explains that she’s looking towards rebranding herself in the reality show, though.
“People know me as this sexy singer, but they don’t really know my personality and what I’m about outside of the entertainment industry. Being a cast member is a great way for me to connect with a new audience,” says Londie. “

An entertainer is born
Londie was born in Phoenix, a small town in Durban, and her family moved to Witbank, Mpumalanga when she was young. Londie explains that her father sang in an a cappella choir group, and he would force Londie and her siblings to sing with him.
Eventually, Londie grew to love singing, but it wasn’t until she was older that she pursued a career in showbiz.
While studying a degree in jewellery design at the University of Johannesburg in 2013, Londie entered a talent search competition called UJ Idols and she finished in second place. That was only the beginning of Londie’s career.
In 2015, she was featured in Ghanaian musician D-Black’s song titled Ma Nonko. With her name gaining traction as a social media influencer and events promoter, Londie signed a record deal with Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2017.
Soon after, she released her debut single called He Goes, followed by a dance tune titled You Were Mine a year later. Londie was also featured on Miss Pru’s Isaga Lam single alongside artists like LaSauce, Gigi Lamayne and Nadia Nakai in 2018.
Londie the fashionista
Apart from music, Londie has her hand in the fashion industry. She started a lingerie brand called Laced by Londie in 2018. With the success of her lingerie line, Londie was interested in expanding her clothing to include more items, which saw her launching her online fashion shop called The Fly Store, which offers clothes for women of different body types.
For her fabulous looks in Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Durban, Londie explains that her outfits are custom-made by local designers.
“I bring some sassiness and lots of fashion looks. I wear outfits by Willet Designs Couture and Styles by Dumi. Those are the people that I’m working closely with in terms of creating the looks that I need for the reality show,” explains Londie.
Londie’s bright future
In the reality show, Londie invites viewers into her home to show them what her life is really like without the filters. She admits that it has been a challenge exposing her personal life for the world to see.
In episode 3, Londie hosts a Sip & See party at her home, in which the ladies meet Londie’s toddler son, Uminathi, and her mom.
“I also had to bring in my mom and my husband for the show. My son is also in the show even though I haven’t even posted his face on social media yet. At first, I thought: ‘Do I really want to do this?’ But I was like: ‘Okay, for once, let me just tell my story rather than letting other people do it’,” says Londie.
Londie is having a ball on The Real Housewives of Durban Season 2 and it’s made her consider moving into TV full-time. “Definitely! Why not? I’d like to get into presenting, acting, [other] reality shows, I’m that girl. Bring it on,” she says.
