The Real Housewives of Durban Season 2: A peek into Sorisha’s mansion

It’s no secret that Sorisha Naidoo is one of the richest of The Real Housewives of Durban – she’s a businesswoman, philanthropist, performer and more. Plus, she shares a living space with her billionaire hubby, Vivian Reddy. So “home sweet home” means something very, very different when you visit Sorisha on Showmax screens.

Here’s a peek at what it’s like living the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

The glorious garden

Forget about the huge driveway gates, the first thing you notice about Sorisha’s mansion is the garden. Every blade of grass is perfectly trimmed – it’s like Sorisha has paid a team of landscapers to measure and trim the lawn using scissors. And the palm trees and cycads make it feel more like tropical Hawaii than Durban’s North Coast.

Gated community

The front doors are massive! And heavy! “We didn’t like the doors that were here,” says Sorisha. “So we did research and sent this design off. We were told ‘that’s doable’ and we’ve stuck these gorgeous handles on with leather inlays.”

Culture clash

Sorisha has style and class, while her hubby is more modern when it comes to décor. “I’m very vintage classic and he (Vivian) is very modern contemporary, so we married the two styles,” says Sorisha, walking through her foyer.

It’s filled with statues, golden mirrors and tables, as well as a giant magazine cover print of herself. And the flowers – it’s like she raided a nursery and took the biggest bunches of greens and reds and whites and yellows and splashed them around the house.

Lights, camera … more lights!

What’s a mansion without gorgeous chandeliers? And not just any fancy chandeliers – they’re massive!

“It took three days for them to be assembled each,” says Sorisha. There’s one in the foyer, two in the dining room… they’re all over the house and light up more than just the rooms.

Wood is a girl’s best friend

Sorisha might be dripping in jewels and diamonds and bling, but there’s another rare resource scattered throughout the Naidoo-Reddy house: wood. And lots of it! From giant kists and dining room tables, to doorway arches and outside onto the patios, wooden furniture adds a touch of class to the house.

Tune in

Sorisha’s lounge and TV room feature plush, red velvety couches, murals on the walls and a touch of sophistication with a wrap-around table behind the half-moon couch. Plus big-screen TVs to stream Showmax and The Real Housewives of Durban.

An entertainment room to die for

Pool pleasure

Living in Durbs means one thing: year-round fun in the sun! And that’s easy for Sorisha since her mansion opens onto the pool area from all sides, complete with fancy tiling around the entire pool. The patio also features a braai area for entertaining, as well as pool lights for those midnight splashes in the cooling water.

In the eyes of the beholder

Sorisha’s house is a designer’s dream. There are giant water vase features scattered around the property that add a soothing moving-water sound. The giant staircase has delicate vines made of steel. The blinds add a touch of modern class. And the walls feature different textures and colours, from smooth and painted green, to rock art to add a more natural feeling.

Comfort for a queen

Sorisha’s décor screams “style maven” but it’s also functional. Huge artworks hang throughout the house, there’s a blend of old-school and modern couches, and her bedroom is classy – the giant bed is flanked by two Greek temple-like columns and simple, clean, aesthetically pleasing fittings and lamps.

Furniture encrusted in gold

Calming effect

And to finish off the house, Sorisha has a meditation room and office, featuring a mini library and cabinet filled with spiritual objects, from paintings and drawings made by her children, to ornate figurines of various gods and deities.
