RHONairobi: Meet Susan Kaittany – “I’m bringing a bit of spice and glam”
She’s posh, she’s bold and she’s savage. Add her love for statement hairstyles and Susan Kaittany is everything you want in a Real Housewife of Nairobi. “I was obviously on the top list for The Real Housewives of Nairobi… I mean, look at me.”
The Real Housewives of Nairobi: Watch Susan’s introduction
As you wait to catch Susan on The Real Housewives of Nairobi from 23 February 2023, only on Showmax, get to know more about the 39-year-old lifestyle and beauty entrepreneur, from what her family thought about her joining the show to her unconditional love for hair.

Why did you want to be on The Real Housewives of Nairobi?
I wanted to be on The Real Housewives of Nairobi because I’m fabulous. I mean look at me, look at the hair, look at everything. I mean, how dare you ask me that? I was definitely on the top list.
As a lawyer, did you have any reservations joining the show?
Any lawyer would have reservations about joining a show like this because people expect you to be a socialite to make it as a Real Housewife. So obviously I had reservations but I knew that I trust myself. I feel like I truly represent myself and that I carry myself very well. You have to trust the process and trust yourself, regardless of the reality of what people expect the show to be – all the drama and the ‘wahala’. Just do you. Whether you’re a lawyer, a doctor, a socialite, a dancer, do you. There are all types of women out there, and we’re representing Nairobi. It doesn’t matter who you are; the show is for anybody who has a personality and who can bring it.
What was it like getting to know the other ladies on the show?
It was so much fun getting to know the ladies. What an eclectic mix of women. It was fun, dangerous, savage, and honestly, a real human experience.
In your own words, what does it mean to be a Real Housewife of Nairobi?
It means you just have to be authentic, sassy and classy. You have to really bring it. You have to look hot and be hot. You have to be posh like me but apart from everything, I think you just have to be fun, and also just eat life with a big spoon.
Which other housewife outside of Nairobi would you be friends with?
I think obviously Chanel Ayan from The Real Housewives of Dubai. It’s obvious. She’s funny, and she’s Kenyan. She’s sassy, and she’s crazy. I think all Kenyans love her because she’s our Kenyan girl in Dubai, so why not?
What can we expect from you in The Real Housewives of Nairobi?
I’ll be dishing style, I’ll be dishing fashion, and of course you know, I’ll be dishing drama, but not too much, ‘kidogo tu’. Just a bit of spice and glam so you better be ready.
Let’s talk about your love for hair, and why it’s important to you. Are we going to see you embrace this in The Real Housewives of Nairobi?
Hair is important to me because I’m an African woman. In The Real Housewives of Nairobi, one of my stories is the hair story, and the reason for that is because as an African woman, I feel like our hair best represents us. You know how sometimes as Africans you feel like you have to wear weaves just to fit in? I want to show women out there that you can be an African queen and be bold and sassy with your hair. Hair is a story. It’s a journey and it’s beautiful.
Do you choose your own hairstyle?
I’m obsessed with hair so I choose my own hairstyle every day. I own Posh Palace so I work with a huge team but then, for you to own the biggest hair parlour in Nairobi, you must be obsessed with hair and style. I think about hair for my clients and for myself. I think about hair 24/7 so yeah, I guess I’m the hair girl.
If you were to choose anyone else to be on the show, who would it be?
She’s passed, but Orie Rogo Manduli is definitely a Real Housewife. I mean, think about it, she had the big crown, she was sassy and bold, and savage. And then we have women like Esther Passaris, who’s very classy, fun and glamorous. I think these two would bring fire to the show.
What did your family think about you being on the show?
They thought I was mad; they were like, “No, Susan. You’re not going to do the show and put yourself out there. You know we’re conservative.” They did not approve but now I’m glad they do. It’s been too many months and now they know I love it. They can see how happy I am. I’m glad I have their support now.
Why should fans watch The Real Housewives of Nairobi?
You have to watch The Real Housewives of Nairobi because it’s real. I don’t know what I expected getting into this show. I thought it was going to be this fake life but the tears are real, the laughter is real, the friendships are real, the heartbreak is real. It’s torturous, it’s beautiful, it’s amazing. It’s everything. It’s a journey, and I’d love for you to take a journey with us.
