The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip - SA episode 1 recap
What do you get when you bring some of your favourite South African Housewives together? A whole lot of entertainment and that’s what we’re here for. Showmax gave the people what they want with the first Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which sees ladies from Gqeberha, Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria traveling to Jamaica for the trip of a lifetime.
Speaking about the concept, LaConco, who appeared on The Real Housewives of Durban, said: “I liked the fact that they chose hHusewives from different cities and brought us together…” There was excitement and a bit of curiosity as the cast members wondered who would be joining them on the getaway.
The first fight

The ladies were only able to connect the dots once they arrived in Jamaica. While the destination was dreamy, breathtaking and all kinds of perfect, a bit of drama was expected. Christall, from the Johannesburg franchise, arrived in a shuttle with Gqeberha’s Bev. During their conversation, Bev suggested that Christall would be the first one to fight. Christall didn’t appreciate the comment and was visibly upset.
Bev reacted: “Where does this anger come from? I don’t know this person.” She told Christall: “You’re already starting. So, there we go. I was probably right ... Maybe you shouldn’t be so sensitive because that came from a good place.”
Awkward moments and clashing personalities

Meanwhile, Nonku and LaConco had their own little awkward moment after realising that they were both part of the cast. When Nonku saw LaConco, she wondered what she was doing there. “I thought I was the queen of the Durban Housewives,” she said. Although there’s no bad blood between them, Nonku mentioned that she could never read LaConco. Another person that she’s not feeling is Mel, who is part of the Pretoria cast.

“Mel, I think she’s just too perfect,” she told Bev. “That girl is either too naive or she’s too self-conscious of herself. She thinks she’s ‘it’.”
The Housewives then got a chance to meet for dinner and that was a chance for them to get acquainted. Before the festivities began, LaConco addressed a comment that Mel had made. She didn’t appreciate being referred to as “Mrs Zuma” and made it clear that she was never married but was only engaged. “I’ve never been a Zuma,” she said. “So, going forward, I’m LaC… Not Mrs, not what-what. You know what I’m saying,” she told Mel.
Healing through prayer

The conversations got deeper as the evening progressed. The ladies asked each other about some of the things that were revealed on the different shows. They touched on the Gqeberha reunion, where Bev’s family affairs were brought to the table. On the show, it was shared that her husband at the time was involved with her daughter.
When asked how she got through that time, she told her co-stars that it was through prayer. “Just praying and begging him to fix everything in my heart. That’s how. You know? Otherwise I would have never made it.” She said she had to lose everything in her life. “Maybe it’s my life story. Maybe God took everything away from me to actually find Him, so I could build my relationship with Him.”
She said she hasn’t spoken to her daughter and that she can’t speak more about it because there’s a court case. Although she faced a tough time, she’s now happily married.
