The River: Mabutho stirs up trouble at the Dikana household

Now that Lindani is out of the picture, Tumi and Mabutho can finally give their relationship a chance. This time, things are going to be different because they’re not hiding their love and have even decided to involve their families.

So, we’ve established that Tumi really did fall for Mabutho while she was cheating on Lindani with him. It wasn’t just about escaping her marital problems. She’s even made it clear to her mother that he’s not a rebound. Lindiwe, on the other hand, is convinced that Mabutho is bad news and has told Tumi to stay away from him.

Lindiwe wants Tumi to leave Mabutho

The controlling mother and wealthy businesswoman was even brave enough to tell Mabutho to leave her daughter alone. She told him: “What you and Tumi are doing won’t end well. You are moving too fast and it will end in tears… I’m not ready to welcome you into my home.”

After that conversation, Lindiwe had no choice but to host Mabutho as a guest in her home. Was it a good idea for the Dikanas to invite him? Yes, because it’s important for them to get to know him. However, things didn’t go well at dinner. Firstly, Mabutho came dressed in his casual clothes, which didn’t impress Tumi at all. Not that he was bothered, by the way.

Secondly, Mabutho stood his ground and had a lot to say to Lindiwe about her classism.

“My manhood isn’t shaken when I’m around new money… Your money isn’t generational wealth. You need to work hard for it, and empower many black people… With or without you, the mine would exist, and poor people like me would still dig out the diamonds, as we do,” he told Lindiwe, who was visibly annoyed.

Is it a rebound?

Every bit of their exchange was entertaining to watch and it’s obvious that these two are still going to be at war with each other. And the fact that Tumi isn’t willing to let go of this relationship is not going to make things any easier for Lindiwe.

Tumi told her meddling mother: “I’d understand if you didn’t like Mabutho because I’ve moved on too fast after my divorce. But you don’t like him because he’s poor. That’s not fair because you also grew up in a shack.”

Say whatever you like about Lindiwe but we have a feeling that she’s right about where this new relationship is headed. Lindani hasn’t even been in KwaZulu-Natal for a week but Tumi is already playing happy family with another? Yikes!

Do you think this relationship will last?
