The River: Plot twist! Lindiwe is free – but for how long?
We’ll admit that although we sometimes get frustrated by The River’s storyline, we love the fact that we never know what to expect. There’s been a lot of action in the last couple of weeks, especially around Lindiwe’s court case. We saw drama, tears, laughter and a lot of twists and turns. Oh, and the past week brought one of the biggest shocks we’ve seen on the show. Let’s catch you up.
Lindiwe is a free woman
We hope we’re speaking for everyone when we say we’re getting tired of Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana always getting away with everything. She’s been on a winning streak for over a year and that’s just boosting her ego even more. On Friday, viewers watched once again as she celebrated another victory. The businesswoman was found not guilty of the murder of Thato Mokoena and the attempted murder of Tumi Mokoena. Her case was obviously made stronger by Zweli and Lindani’s testimonies. What the two men said when they took the stand seems to have worked in her favour and as a result, Lindiwe is now a free woman.

To celebrate her victory, the mother of two hosted the mother of all parties at her house and it was a glitzy event attended by very important people. The night was so special that award-winning South African musician Vusi Nova made an appearance and performed for Lindiwe and her guests.
Zweli gets the shock of his life
However, it looks like her victory might be short-lived. Just as everyone was celebrating Lindiwe and Zolani’s freedom, Zweli was on the other side of town getting beer for the party. While he was sitting there minding his own business, an unexpected thing happened. Christo, the man who convinced him that Lindiwe was being framed by the Mokoenas, and the same man who was supposed to have died in a car explosion, was at the same restaurant.
Christo was having good time with his friends and telling them about how he’s going to pay for their holidays and honeymoons. He was basically telling them that he’s got lots of money. The money comes from Lindiwe, of course, after he helped her to pull off one of the biggest scams we’ve seen. After Christo spotted Zweli he tried to run but he was unsuccessful, and Zweli wants answers.

We don’t want to get too excited about the possibility of Zweli finally getting to the bottom of his wife’s lies. This has happened before; he’s had his suspicions about Lindiwe but she’s always managed to convince him otherwise.
We can’t wait to see if Zweli will finally uncover the truth. If you’re as curious as we are, you better keep watching The River on Showmax. New episodes air 15 minutes after the DStv broadcast.
