The River S3: The shocking season finale
How many times must The River break our hearts? We’re still trying to recover from the tragic way in which some of our favourite characters died on the show and now we have to deal with yet another loss.
Friday evening’s episode of the show, which was the Season 3 finale, ended with a big bang after Lindiwe decided to finally deal with Tumi. Although the mother and daughter relationship was beginning to blossom, Lindiwe couldn’t deal with the fact that Tumi was prepared to expose all her secrets.
Tumi got hold of a recording that she received from her father, Mohumi. In the recording, Lindiwe is heard boasting about all the people she has killed in the past, including Flora’s son, Happy, Zweli’s wife, Gail, and many others. Mohumi gave the recording to Tumi and asked her to share it with the world.
Guilty conscience?
Tumi obliged but had a change of heart after she spoke to Lindiwe about it. She confronted her about her deadly crimes and her mother came clean about everything. Lindiwe somehow managed to convince Tumi to protect her secret. And to show her gratitude, she promised Tumi that she would take over Khanyisa Diamonds one day. All seemed well as they were on the same page.
But things changed after Tumi had a dream about her late father, Thato Mokoena. In the dream, he reminded her of the importance of doing the right thing, instead of making a deal with the devil. Tumi was shaken by the message and decided to take the moral high road. While everyone else was preparing and excited for Zolani and Emma’s wedding, Tumi was working on a plan to expose Lindiwe.
Lindiwe kills Tumi
As we’ve learned in the last few years, Lindiwe will do anything to protect herself – even if it means taking a precious life. When Tumi told her about her plan to reveal the truth, Lindiwe lost it and had to think of something quickly. She couldn’t live with the thought of all her crimes coming out and the only solution to this was to kill Tumi, without even thinking twice.
Will Lindiwe be able to live with herself after killing her only daughter? Season 4 of The River premieres on 8 February 2021 and comes express to Showmax.
