The Wife Season 3 episode 22-24 recap: A plan gone wrong
The Wife Season 3 episodes 22-24 thrust us into the luxurious lives of the Zulu family after a successful diamond heist. First up is a shopping spree. Then Hlomu launches her new restaurant, named ‘Crumbs by Hlomu’.
Meanwhile, Naledi’s father is out for blood and it comes as no surprise whose blood he is after. Chief Kgosi wants Qhawe dead and is determined to stop at nothing until he’s six feet under. Are the Zulus going to lose yet another member of their family?
Hard time for lovers
This week picks up after last week’s shocking moment when Naledi fainted. This episode showed us that the love Qhawe has for Naledi is without measure. The Zulu man is trying his best to win Naledi’s affections.
After surprising her with a brand new home, the Tswana princess is still in shock and angry that Qhawe bought the house and moved her clothes without consulting her. She is obviously overwhelmed by Qhawe’s gesture and this is a sure reminder of her past experiences. “The last time a man did something like this, I ended up having to take out a restraining order so he would leave me alone”, says Naledi.
They are both determined to make a fresh start together, despite all the obstacles in their way. With everything that is happening so fast, Naledi fears that Qhawe might take away her independence. Qhawe reassures Naledi that he’s not that type of person and is not controlling. The episode ends with the couple spending the night at Naledi’s place having takeaways. A lesson to the Zulu brother that sometimes, he doesn’t need to go all out in impressing Naledi. Even the simplest gestures do matter.
A blast from the past to threaten Hlomu’s marriage
It’s the official launch night and everyone came through dazzling on the red carpet of Hlomu’s restaurant launch. A blast from the past appears and makes damning demands. Nokuzola, who is said to be Mqhele’s ex-girlfriend, confronts Hlomu with some information concerning Mqhele’s past. This mystery girl claims that she was meant to be the first Zulu wife, instead of Hlomu.
She corners Hlomu in the bathroom and reveals that she has a son with Mqhele. This doesn’t sit well with Hlomu who wastes no time dragging the girl on the floor in front of her guests.
Mqhele is furious and confronts Nokuzola, giving her an ultimatum to do a DNA test and if it happens that the kid isn’t his, he will kill her. Realising how her lies might get exposed, she comes clean and confesses that it’s not Mqhele’s kid.
Naledi and Qhawe involved in an explosive accident
After finding out that Naledi lives with Qhawe in a house that he bought for her, Kgosi is more determined than ever to kill the Zulu man. He is angry at the fact that Qhawe took Naledi without marrying her. He’s forgetting that the Zulus went to Royal Thabeng to discuss lobola negotiations but didn’t give them a day in his life. Not only did he refuse to accept cows from the Zulus but he also disrespected them.
Both Kgosi and Sello (Tshedi’s husband) plan to order a hit on Qhawe. They hire someone to tamper with Qhawe’s car brakes in an attempt to kill him, making it look like it was an accident. When Qhawe and Naledi drive to their house together they realise that the car brakes aren’t working, which results in an explosive accident. The episode ends with Sello appearing on the scene and realising that his plan didn’t only affect Qhawe but also Naledi.
Is it too much too soon to say that Sello will be next to feel the wrath of Kgosi when he soon finds out how his plan failed dismally?
