The Wrong Girl (2022)
Human trafficking is a serious problem in the world and especially SA, which acts as a hub for the world. And it’s somewhat of a personal quest for undercover lawwoman Fhatu (Palesa Setlhare), who’s willing to put her life on the line to infiltrate the local operation in brand-new action movie The Wrong Girl.
The story follows fancy and flash Fhatu being kidnapped (it’s part of her plan) by three bumbling criminals, who think that they’ve hit the jackpot and their boss will be happy. In-between the comedy – like all three forgetting to bring Fhatu to their safe house – there’s a serious message: That human trafficking is real and many innocent people lose their freedom and lives to the crime.
The script is tight and while the writing isn’t going to win an Academy Award, the onscreen action keeps you on your toes for the 37-minute runtime. There’s the life lesson to be learnt – to always be vigilant of people around you – and it’s a “fun” watch when you’re waiting for dinner to cook.
