Unmarried Season 3, Episode 11: Double wahala for dead body

Dear Unmarried enthusiasts

Another week, another set of unfolding complications for our faves!

This week’s episode had us worried for the sanity of our favourite onscreen trio as they dealt with even more drama.

From Nengi’s ever-increasing complicated love situation, to Kamsi and Lotagate, plus Funbi’s never-ending woes, here’s all that went down on Unmarried this week.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

Kamsi’s dilemma

We know we say this every week but our girl is really going through it.

Following her separation from Lotanna, Kamsi has continued to struggle with unpacking her feelings about her estranged husband and her whole marriage.

This week’s episode of Unmarried saw Kamsi caught up between a seemingly repentant Lota, and Mofe, who has been more than a friendly shoulder to cry on.

Lotanna asks that they meet up to have an honest conversation on the direction of their relationship. During the course of the conversation, we see a vulnerable Kamsi give us insight into her past experiences and reasons for leaving Lota.

Unfortunately, Kamsi’s father and Lotanna share many similar characteristics. Both men are lazy, unambitious and convinced that someone or something is the cause of their woes.

Kamsi further expresses her concern about leaving their children in his care in the event that anything happens to her. She recounts the terrible experience she and her sister Somto had to endure moving from one relative to another because their father couldn’t get his act right after their mother died.

She makes it abundantly clear that she does not desire to repeat the same patterns in her marriage.

Lotanna, however, reassures her that he will do better and make her proud. We’re not sure how to feel because we believe she’s better off without deadbeat Lota. But as they say: the heart wants what it wants.

Bode vs Bosa

Nengi is undoubtedly the queen of love triangles and has a knack for getting into some of the most difficult love situations.

Was it just us or was that kiss between herself and Bosa steamy? It literally had us on the edge of our seats hoping that Bode with his terrible timing, wouldn’t walk in on them.

Bode is extremely insecure about Nengi’s relationship with Bosa and rightly so! Have you seen that hunk? Even with the countless fights and reassurances from Nengi, Bode can’t seem to get over his hang-ups about Bosa.

While we may not be the biggest fans of Bode, we feel his pain. Having finalised his separation from his wife, the last thing he needs is to be worried that someone else will snatch his lover. It seems like he has so much at stake and is afraid of losing everything.

Bosa, who has had a crush on Nengi for ages, is certainly not backing down from going after her. Unfortunately for him, Nengi is head over heels in love with Bode and insists that their friendship remains platonic even after the last kiss.

We absolutely cannot wait to see what happens with this love triangle. Who will win the heart of the fair lady Nengi? Bode or Bosa?

Funbi’s breaking point

Funbi’s life on Unmarried is increasingly seeming like one long, twisted, sad tale. Our girl has gone from one toxic relationship to another, and is currently in one that is worse than all the others put together, and she can’t seem to catch a break!

Following the discovery of her mother’s lies about having cancer, Funbi reports her findings to Ali amidst tears from Iya Funbi.

Not surprisingly, Ali reacts with righteous indignation when Iya Funbi accuses him of being in on the lies.

What we did find surprising however, was how Funbi dismissed her mother’s claims on Ali’s involvement and believed him completely. It goes without saying that Ali has a strong hold on Funbi.

On Joe’s advice, Funbi decides to return to therapy and informs Ali of this decision. He agrees to let her resume therapy but in typical Ali fashion, manipulates the situation yet again. He saves one of his numbers on her phone as “therapist” and proceeds to text her informing her of a relocation.

Funbi is perplexed by this new development but Ali assures her that the therapist’s relocation is a sign from the universe that she doesn’t need therapy. To reinforce this, he gives her his card to go shopping for anything she wants and that’s when it all starts to go south.

At the salon, Funbi meets another woman who has the exact same card that Ali gave her. The card even had his name on it! She strikes up a conversation and soon discovers that they are dating the same man.

Armed with this discovery, she confronts our dear Ali. We really thought she had him this time but Ali is as slippery as an eel.

He denies everything, gaslights her and tries to convince her that she is overthinking and overreacting! We couldn’t believe our ears! What sort of next-level narcissism is this? Funbi needs an intervention and she needs it ASAP!

Will Kamsi break the cycle with Lota? Who will Nengi choose? How will Funbi handle Ali’s betrayal?
