Uthando Lodumo S2: How losing her Instagram account is hurting Babes’s business
Just like many South African stars, Babes Wodumo has found herself as a victim of social media hacking. The singer, who has over two million followers on Instagram, has worked hard to get that kind of following on the social media platforms and feared the risk of losing her account forever.
After her account was hacked, Babes Wodumo reached out to Project Works, a company that specializes in hacking. “My Instagram account has been hacked and I can’t access it. I can’t even post my gigs and it’s becoming bad for my business and brand,” she said. Fortunately, there seems to be a way to assist her. “The Instagram account I had was revived by a company called Electro Mode. Electro Mode had a fallout with Mampintsha about music and then they took over the account.
Terms and conditions
All the emails ad verification pins go straight to them,” the musician explained on the latest episode of Uthando Lodumo. The above-mentioned company also gave Babes a condition in order to help her. “It’s a long story but they basically want me to sign to their company in order for me to have access to my account,” she said, adding that she’s refusing.

One of the representatives asked Babes if she’d like them to retrieve her account and she obviously agreed. “This thing of trusting people with your account and pins, people end up doing dodgy things which is why I kept getting hacked,” she said on the show.
“We can help you get your account back; it’s just going to take a few days to get communication from Meta. They need to verify that this is your account before they hand it back to you. It’s not that complicated,” the Project Works reps told her. Does this mean Babes will never get hacked again? Well, it’s not that simple.
Safety first
She was told that that would all depend on the strength of her new passwords and what links she decides to open. “Sometimes some people will send you a link to say check out this event etc, and they say open this link to see what the event is about. If you click that link, you open yourself up being hacked. They don’t necessarily need your password to hack you,” they told her.
Babes was advised to forward any message that has a link to the Project Works team. “We have the resources to analyze it and tell you if it’s safe or not to open it. That’s after we retrieve your Instagram.”

The mother of one revealed that a lot of people have offered to help her and that she’s now putting her trust in others to resolve the issue. “I really need to get my account back.”
