Uthando Lodumo Season 2: Babes Wodumo’s birthday party turns sour
Birthdays are supposed to be about being happy and celebrating your life, right? Well, that’s what Babes Wodumo wanted when she invited all her loved ones to mark this special occasion on episode 3 of Uthando Lodumo Season 2. However, things didn’t turn out the way she anticipated as she found herself fighting with her husband, Mampintsha, most of the evening.
The party was off to a good start and Mampintsha even showed up with flowers to surprise his wife. “I’m looking good, I have fresh flowers and I’ve been drinking water all day. I’m sober,” he said. The kwaito star said happy birthday to Babes and gave her a hug. This made her happy, of course. “I am so chuffed. My other guests are also arriving. They’re all looking good,” she said. According to the couple, they’ve celebrated about nine or 10 birthdays together.
Babes loses her cool
While this was meant to be another epic celebration, it quickly turned ugly after Babes realised that there were some uninvited guests. This upset her and she asked to speak to her husband outside. “They are your friends, I know them through you,” she told him. Sponge’s mother felt disrespected. “That is not right. Now I have to act out on my birthday. It’s wrong. Don’t you see it?” Meanwhile, Mampintsha seemed confused and denied speaking to the uninvited guests. “I don’t want to ruin your party,” he told her. He added: “I am here to support you. Everyone is here and I never invited anyone to this party.”
All Babes wanted was for him to understand why she reacted the way she did and felt like he wasn’t hearing her. “You have to ask me why I am upset. I am trying to explain to you… You always want to start a fight. You’ve got pent up anger,” she told her husband, adding that she just wanted to vent.
It’s not that deep
Fortunately, they were able to sort out their differences and, as Babes mentioned, “married people argue like this all the time”. She said the people close to them understand them. “We are always having back and forths. In the end we go home together and go to bed,” she explained.
By the end of the evening, the award-winning musician was happy as she and her husband had kissed and made up. “We drank, we fought, we hugged and now we sleep. That’s how I celebrate.”
