Watch the trailer for Troukoors (Wedding Fever) Season 2
In April 2020, Showmax released the trailer for Season 2 of Troukoors (Wedding Fever), announcing that the next 14 episodes of the hit Showmax Original would be available to binge from Thursday, 5 May 2022.
Troukoors became the most-watched fictional Afrikaans series on Showmax when it launched in mid-December 2021. It’s currently behind only Sex in Afrikaans and Devilsdorp in terms of first-day views for an Afrikaans title on Showmax.

Troukoors follows three best friends: wedding planner Jessica (Ilse-Lee van Niekerk); her sister Luca (Blyde Smit), a software developer; and her best friend Abi (Bianca Flanders), a professional baker.
Season 2 starts with Jessica still together with tasty chef Liam (Christiaan Schoombie); Luca trying to maintain a long-distance relationship with barman turned fantasy writer Stefan (Evan Hengst); and Abi on a sex fast we all know is going to be short-lived…

The trailer gives us a first look at some of the temptations coming their way, including 2022 Fleur du Cap winner David Viviers (Tali’s Baby Diary, Kanarie) as a game designer working with Luca to adapt Stefan’s book into a game, and 2022 Silwerskerm Best Actor: Short Film winner Marlo Minnaar (Die Boland Moorde, Aan/Af) as a maths tutor who catches Abi’s eye. Silwerskerm Best Actor nominee Edwin van Der Walt (Wonderlus) also plays a larger role this season.

Keep your eyes peeled during the trailer for first glimpses of SAFTA winner Ilse Klink (Skemerdans, Stroomop) as Patricia and rising star Kylie Fisher (Recipes for Love and Murder) as Zamanti, an influencer whose wedding Jessica pitches on. Jessica will also help Abi’s dad, Karel (SAFTA winner Kevin Smith), plan his wedding to Nathan (Melt Sieberhagen) this season. There’s one more big wedding to look out for, but audiences will have to wait and see who the lucky couple will be.
What the critics said
Critics fell in love with Season 1, with Witness calling the show “quirky and full of heart”, Die Son “funny, heartfelt and naughty”; and Vamers a “breath of fresh air,” with Channel24 proclaiming, “It’s amazing… Everything you could want for a holiday binge… This isn’t your Ouma’s Afrikaans show – it’s modern, fun and highlights non-conventional relationships that are rarely ever seen in this medium… Highly entertaining.”

Troukoors was created by SAFTA winner Louis Pretorius and SAFTA nominee Albert Snyman of Infinity Films (Die Boekklub, Fynskrif), with regular collaborator Nina Swart directing.
“We set out to make a fun and light show about modern romance,” says Louis. “I think we achieved that but Troukoors grew into so much more. It has also become a celebration of friendship and chosen families, because we all need more than one person to fill our hearts. We all need our own village to become the person we are supposed to be.”
