21 thoughts I had watching Younger Season 6

In between obsessing over Beyonce’s Brown Skin Girl (who isn’t), I cancelled all my weekend plans and binge-watched the first 5 episodes of Younger season 6 and now I think some of my fragile friendships are ruined.

To be fair, Younger just landed and I couldn’t wait to see where #TeamCharles would take us this season. If you like lots of drama, complicated romance and humour, then step into the sexy, fun and messy world of New York publishing because all seasons of Younger are now streaming on Showmax. (That’s S1-7!)

And like we did last year with 39 Thoughts I had watching Younger S5, here are some thoughts I had watching the new season:

1. “It ain’t my fault that I’m out here getting loose, gotta blame it on the goose. Gotta blame it on the juice, baby.” Is that Lizzo ushering the new season with her pop anthem Juice? Way to go Younger. Look at our two out-of-the-closet lovebirds Liza and Charles just smooching all over the place. I could look at a shirtless (and jobless) Charles the whole day. And Liza says the L-word to Charles. This season is just bringing all the juice, isn’t it?
2. Kudos to Kelsey for becoming the youngest publisher in New York and for defining the cultural moment as her bestie Lauren puts it.
3. “I’m a big value add for you…” May we all learn to be our biggest hype masters like Lauren is to herself.
4. “It’s not Kelsey, it’s me.” That look of betrayal and disappointment on Diana’s face after Liza confesses to being the 28-year old assistant who was having an affair with Charles cuts deeper.
5. The yodelling mum??? Excuse me Charles’s friend, but Liza Miller is more than just the yodelling mum. That’s Editor at Millenial and all-time badass career woman to you Sir, thank you very much.
6. So, the Glass Cliff phenomenon might be the reason the now women-led Millenial is not doing great financially. Is that even a thing? *Summons Siri*
7. Woooo, Diana Trout, belt it out. Someone please sign this woman to a record label.
8. What’s happening? Are we getting a musical number? Liza, Kelsey and Diana singing Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5, what a joy to behold! Diana is a world treasure.
9. Can I just find a man who will buy me a brand-new bed so I don’t suffer back pains when I sleep like Charles did for Liza?
10. Oh Diana, no man likes to hear that you settled for them just because you couldn’t get the One. They are fragile beings.
11. Is that Nicole Ari Parker? Well I haven’t seen those dashing green eyes since I last went through her Instagram feed three hours ago. And did you see that loaded look she just shared with Maggie? Yes, to whatever relationship this is about to be. Here’s a thought: Maggie gives good advice, drinks wine and can cook too but c’mon Younger, she deserves a rich story this season.
12. I know Zane is stressing Kelsey out right now being the competition and stealing one of her authors but this man’s charm runs deep. *Pauses Younger to look at Zane smile.*
13. Kelsey has a what now, Lauren? BDE – Google it guys, I can’t write it here because I’m trying to be prim and proper. Besides, I’m writing this post on a Sunday so let’s all be nice.
14. Is anyone else wondering what Josh’s baby’s last name is, seeing as Josh doesn’t have a last name and all?
15. Is Boris Kodjoe cool with Nicole…never mind. We are just happy that Beth is in Maggie’s life this season.
16. I just can’t let it go, guys. Garlic can do that?? Hmmm, you learn something new every day. This whole garlic scene – somebody pick me up from the floor, please.
17. So it’s confirmed: Mercury, Millennial’s biggest competitor, is funded by Charles who is still the chairman of the board at Millennial. Pass the sugar, honey – this is about to get messy.
18. Excuse me as I go overthink whether my relationship has a third leg. Thank you, strange DIY couple.
19. The fact that Gemma, a newborn baby has 5 000 followers on Instagram with only three posts is so disrespectful to people like me with only 584 followers (don’t confirm that) but still so impressive. Sign me up for that ‘Secure the Bag at All Costs’ Masterclass, Lauren.
20. “The thing is, Enzo, they choose me.” Diana’s answer to Enzo when he says he’ll make it up to her by buying her a necklace of her choice is the stuff of legend. Diana Trout, you are too good for us.
21. This Liza vs Charles rivalry has me rethinking my #TeamCharles loyalty? Hear me out for a sec. Josh and Liza kinda look like the perfect couple with that baby. Is it too late for #TeamJosh?

With the way things are going, it looks like the drama has just started. Now I can’t wait for Charles’s ex-wife Pauline to come back and raise hell for Liza and Charles. She did promise to do that, didn’t she?
