Binge-watch recommendations from The Wife actor Swelihle Luthuli
Rising star Swelihle Luthuli has won critical acclaim for his role in the Showmax Original telenovela The Wife as Ntsika, the youngest of the Zulu brothers. To say his career is off to a great start is an understatement – Swelihle first rose to fame when he got a supporting role in the Mzansi Magic drama series Ehostela.
When he’s not busy on the set of The Wife, he enjoys watching a mix of local and international series and movies on Showmax.
If you’re wondering what to binge-watch on Showmax, take some recommendations from this young actor.
Wounds
Wounds is a brilliant South African medical drama set in the fictional Healing Hands Hospital, where nurses and doctors dedicate their lives to helping others.
Busisiwe (played by Same Makhoba) is forced to start an internship at a hospital under her sister’s identity in order to survive while keeping up the façade.
Old
A tropical holiday turns into a horrific nightmare when a vacationing family discovers that a secluded beach somehow causes them to age rapidly, reducing their entire lives to a single day.
The film is an adaptation of a 2010 graphic novel by writer Pierre-Oscar Lévy and artist Frederik Peeters called Sandcastle.
Living The Dream With Somizi Seasons 1-5
South African superstar Somizi Mhlongo sets out to address the relationships and cultural obligations he’s neglected on Living the Dream With Somizi Season 5.
Season 5 picks up in the second half of 2021, in the aftermath of Somizi’s split from Mohale, Mohale’s accusations of abuse against Somizi, and the passing of Somizi’s mother, legendary actress Mary Twala (This Is Not A Burial, It’s A Resurrection).
In addition to these gems, all hand-picked by Swelihle, you’ll also be able to watch him playing Ntsika on The Wife – both seasons are streaming only on Showmax.
