Elders: Japan
Elders: Japan is the second Elders series after last year’s Camino adventure in Spain. This time Erns Grundling and a small film crew travels to Japan, where they explore the Land of the Rising Sun.
Japan is one of the world’s most unique destinations, and it’s about to become even more popular with the hosting of the forthcoming Rugby World Cup in September and the Olympic Games in 2020.
Staying true to the hiking theme of the first series, Erns explores two pilgrimages in Japan: the Kumano Kodo (a sister pilgrimage of the Camino in Spain) and the Nakasendo, the former trade route between Kyoto and Tokyo.
He attempts to conquer Mount Fuji in thick snow, and interviews several international rugby players ahead of the World Cup. He also explores Japan’s wonderful culture, cuisine, incredible cities and scenery, and even tries to be a samurai warrior, ninja and sumo wrestler.
This fun series will entice you to put Japan on your travel bucket list.
