Black Tax S2: Sizwe moves out after lying to Martha
Nothing is as embarrassing as being caught in a lie. No matter which way you look at it, it is a bit of an awkward situation. Sizwe recently found himself having to explain why he lied to his wife, Martha, just to avoid going to church. Martha was expecting her husband to serve the Lord even when he didn’t feel like it.
A little white lie
When things got too much for him, Sizwe decided to tell his wife that he was sick and couldn’t attend the service. He stayed at home and did all the things he wanted to do on a Sunday morning, including hanging out with his buddy, Bra Hugo. Just as he was starting to relax, Martha and the rest of the family came back home to find him chilling. Martha, who left church early to take care of her “sick” husband, got upset and gave him a piece of her mind.
“You see this thing about stomach cramps is the work of the devil, and he’s sitting here wearing glasses and a hat,” she said, referring to Bra Hugo as the devil. “And God told me that I must come back because my husband needs me,” she added.
The grass is not always greener on the other side
They went inside the house and had an argument. Sizwe told Martha that she was controlling. “When I don’t want to go to church, then I won’t. I won’t be controlled by you.”
Martha then told him that she didn’t want to be married to an ungodly man and Sizwe was instructed to go stay with Bra Hugo where he would have independence.
Things went well at first as he was enjoying his new-found freedom. However, things changed when he realised that he needed his wife more than he was aware. His clothes were dirty, he couldn’t iron, and he just suffered a lot when he had to do anything for himself. Basically, he could no longer survive on his own.
So Sizwe swallowed his pride and went back to Martha and admitted he was wrong. She welcomed him back, of course, and all was well again.
