Wonder Park (2019)
Wonder Park tells the story of an amusement park where the imagination of a wildly creative girl named June comes alive. She meets all the creatures she thought lived in her head: Boomer, a blue bear who greets visitors; a wild boar named Greta; beavers Gus and Cooper, Steve the porcupine safety manager and Peanut, the chimp leader of the park who can create rides by listening to June’s mom’s voice.
Commonsense Media recommends the movie for kids older than eight, saying “whimsical details and slapstick humour abound, to be sure, but at its heart, Wonder Park is a story about a girl who’s dealing with some pretty big, scary stuff. Which could be helpful for the right kids in the right circumstances, but if you go into it expecting a breezy comedy, you’re likely to be taken aback.”
