The ABC Killer on Showmax

The ABC Killer

In 1995, journalist Tamsen de Beer was working the night shift at The Star newspaper when she got a call from someone claiming to be South Africa’s most prolific serial killer. The kind of serial killer who would go on to be convicted of killing nearly 40 women in the space of a year, in broad daylight, while sober.

From Jasyn Howes, director of the SAFTA-nominated Boetie Boer, The ABC Killer is another twisty true-crime documentary series from Showmax, set to be released 30 years after Tamsen received that chilling call.

Alongside re-enactments filmed in the actual locations where the events took place, The ABC Killer features interviews with Tamsen, South Africa’s first profiler Micki Pistorius, forensic psychologist Giada Del Fabbro, and World Press Photo of the Year winner Jodi Bieber, as well as recordings of the killer himself.

The three-part docuseries The ABC Killer is now streaming on Showmax.
