How does Temptation Island work?

The global pop culture phenomenon has hit our shores, and entries are now open for the ultimate relationship test, Temptation Island South Africa.

The series follows four couples at a pivotal time in their relationship, where they must mutually decide if they are ready to commit to one another for the rest of their lives — or go their separate ways. 
 
Together, the couples experience the ultimate holiday in paradise, where they join single men and women, all looking for love. There, they live the “single life,” in a test that is meant to help answer their most difficult questions about their relationship.

How many couples and singles are there?

There will be four couples on the show, who will be joined by 10 single men and 10 single women.

The four women from the couples will live in a villa with the 10 single men, and the four men from the couples will live in a villa with the 10 single women.

When and how do the contestants leave Temptation Island?

There is no elimination for the couples on Temptation Island South Africa – they stay on the show until the end of the journey, which is marked by the final bonfire.

The singles on the show are voted out by the four members of the couples with whom they have been living. So, for example, the four women in their villa will decide which of the single men to vote off.

Their votes have to be unanimous before any of the singles are voted out.

The votes don’t happen at any fixed point of the journey, so when the host announces that there will be a vote and an elimination, it comes as a surprise to everyone in the villa. It will happen at different times in both the men’s villa and the women’s villa.

What happens at the end of the show?

At the final bonfire, the couples reunite to decide on the future of their relationship. They will make the choice whether to leave the island together (this means they are meant to be together forever), whether to leave with a new-found love who is better suited to them (in other words, one of the single men or women they have been living with), or whether the journey has revealed to them that they should leave the island alone.

What are the prizes?

There are no prizes in Temptation Island South Africa other than true love! The couples get the gift of knowing whether or not their relationship is meant to be. In some cases, members of a couple will get to find a new love or the clarity of knowing that they are better off alone. This is the ultimate prize – finding love or discovering the truth about your relationship.

Where will Temptation Island take place?
