There’s the history of domestic abuse, infidelity and far too many secrets to count and in episodes 10-12, their union gets more complicated when they visit a sangoma to find out if Hlomu is carrying Mqhele’s baby.
Besides the baby daddy drama, Zandile is blackmailed to transport drugs from Johannesburg to Durban and her brother-in-law inadvertently takes the fall for the crime. What a disaster!
Let’s get into the recap.
Episode 10 – Balling on a budget
Since Nqoba was assigned as chairman of the Taxi Association, he wants to look the part. He has grills in his teeth, his shirts are more flamboyant and he wants his wife Mandisa to change her style too. Nqoba gives her a stack of cash to shop until she drops and when she returns from her afternoon at the mall, he is disappointed that she didn’t buy enough clothes and jewellery.
“You are married to a chairman, it’s like being married to the mayor,” says Nqoba to Mandisa, while removing a bucket of cash from under his bed.
“These buckets of money are for you, my love. I collect money from the drivers for you. Just blow all this money,” he adds. But it turns out that Nqoba is only pretending to be loaded as later, he increases the tariffs at the taxi rank and he orders taxi drivers to pay him more money to finance his expensive tastes.
Zandile is blackmailed
Zandile receives a call from a former cellmate Buli, blackmailing her. Zandile is ordered to transport 25 kilograms of pure cocaine to Durban. Buli gives Zandile a painful ultimatum: to follow her orders or, Buli will tell the Zulu brothers that Zandile killed a woman in the shower while they were still in prison.
Zandile is stressed. She seeks Mandisa’s advice and because Mandisa is a ride-or-die type of friend, she agrees to help Zandile complete the mission.
Zandile and Mandisa hide the bag of drugs from Nkosana and the Zulu brothers and place it in one of the taxis, which lands them in hot water as Mqoqi unknowingly drives the vehicle and he is caught by the police with the bag of drugs. Mqoqi is arrested and now, Zandile is forced to come clean to the Zulu brothers and pay Buli for losing her drugs to the cops.
Nomusa is exposed
Seeing that the Zulu brothers killed the Commissioner’s wife in Season 1, he seeks vengeance. The Commissioner orders a hit on Zandile but what he doesn’t know is that the real Zandile escaped prison, and Nomusa took her place.
With Nomusa’s life on the line, she is forced to confess that she isn’t Zandile. Nomusa also reveals her deal with the Zulu brothers to the Commissioner, and he plots to kill Zandile.
Episode 11 – Both brothers gunning to be the father
It’s going to be a long nine months for a pregnant Hlomu as she still doesn’t know who the father of her unborn baby is. She’s on bended knees, wishing and praying that her husband Mqhele is the father, but then again, the timeline is pointing to her brother-in-law Qhawe, as she shared a passionate one-night stand with him on a bed of feathers, weeks before.
The crazy part in this dilemma isn’t that Hlomu had sex with both brothers, it’s that Mqhele fears that Hlomu’s deceased ex-boyfriend Sandile – who she cheated with – might be the father. Consequently, in episode 11, Mqhele suggests that he and Hlomu visit their sangoma to put his suspicions to rest. Hlomu tries to put up a fight but she reluctantly agrees.
Before their consultation, Hlomu asks Qhawe to help her out of the sticky situation and he is irritated that she only comes to him when he needs help or a shoulder to cry on. Because Qhawe is in love with Hlomu, he comes to the rescue.
He unexpectedly walks into the sangoma’s consultation room, shocking Mqhele. Shortly after Qhawe’s arrival, the sangoma throws his bones, revealing that indeed, the father is in the room. “The baby has your blood,” says the sangoma, sending smiles across Mqhele and Qhawe’s faces but shivers down Hlomu’s spine as now, she is tasked with figuring out who her babby daddy is.
Episode 12: The Commissioner gets shot
When the Zulu brothers find out that the Commissioner is onto them, they assassinate him.
With the Commissioner dead, that should mean that the Zulu brothers’ problems are over but there’s more to come as their arch-rivals, the Majolas will soon strike when they find out that Qhawe damaged their taxis.
