Bridge and Tunnel S1

For those who don’t know, Long Island is connected to New York City by a long tunnel and a long bridge. It joins – and divides – the two regions in more ways than one though. Because it’s a reminder that if you’re from Long Island, you’re less than. And if you’re a New Yorker, you’re better than the rest.

Bridge and Tunnel tells the story of a group of college graduates in the late 70s and early 80s who’re trying to find their places in the world. The problem is that, to make it, they need to leave their homes and cross into Manhattan, so they’ve got extra pressure on their shoulders just to prove that they’re capable and good enough.

Season 1 is only six episodes so it’s a quick binge, but it’s so worth the watch purely because it’s from all-round creative genius Edward Burns – he’s the writer, creator and has a cameo hidden in the background. The cast is perfect – they’re almost all unknowns and hold their own against a couple of bigger names as they too try to prove their worth.
