One family goes to war … with itself
Myth and magic meet melodrama in Igazi, a modern-day drama series. The action is set in the cityscapes of Johannesburg and the rolling hills of the Eastern Cape near Coffee Bay.
Igazi tells the story of a Xhosa royal family at war with itself. There is conflict about succession to the throne, while magical forces of darkness are influencing the characters we meet. At the centre of the tale is a man forced into the battle for his father’s throne. He has to overcome his own demons and accept his destiny. As the story unfolds, the audience is drawn deeper into the conflict. Will the rightful heir ascend the throne?
A stellar cast bring the characters to life: Nomhle Nkonyeni, Jet Novuka, Allen Booi, Peter Sephuma, Zandile Msutwana, Thami Mngqolo, Anga Makubalo, Charmaine Mtinta, Zikhona Sodlaka, Zenande Mfenyane, Vatiswa Ndara, Mnatha Vika and Talitha Ndima.
Igazi is deeply rooted in history and draws from the symbols and beliefs in dark magic. The series challenges its audience with the question: Is blood thicker than water?
