Reasons to binge-watch Kwa Mam’Mkhize S1
Shauwn Mkhize was a bit of an enigma before her reality show premiered earlier this year. Besides the fact that she’s a successful businesswoman based in KwaZulu-Natal, viewers didn’t really know much about her. Well, that all changed after she decided to let cameras follow her around and introduced people to who she really is. Here are some of the things we’ve learned about Shauwn on her hit show.
1. She used to be an accountant
On the last episode of the reality series, the businesswoman mentioned that while she finished her studies, she didn’t bother to write her board exams because her love for money and her ambition meant she’d never be satisfied with an accountant’s salary.
“When I completed my studies at school and I was asked to do board exams, I asked how much money [accountants] earn and did not bother following through because their salary was far too little.”
2. Her views on marriage are interesting
Shauwn seems to have learned a thing or two about marriage since her divorce. As she explained on the show, what led to the demise of her relationship with Sbu is the fact that she ended up losing herself.
“The small problem that led my marriage to a divorce was that Sbu loved himself. I also loved Sbu. So, no one cared for me.”
Although she doesn’t like discussing her break-up, she’s open about her views on marriage. Shauwn reckons that when people get married, they should enter into a five-year contract, similar to an employment contract.
“There wouldn’t be any divorces if marriage was conducted as a five-year contract. Marriage would be blissful because everyone would be committed.”
3. Shauwn shares a home with her ex-husband
While some people probably never want to see their exes again after a breakup, Shauwn and her ex-husband are still living under the same roof. Before you raise your eyebrows, they’re not your typical roommates. The former lovers share a home, but they live in different wings of the house. Yes, the mansion has different wings!
She once explained on the show: “[Sbu lives in] the wing of the house that’s in both our names. The wing I reside in is in Andile’s name.”
4. She’s friends with famous people
Okay, this one doesn’t come as a surprise because she hangs out in all the right circles. Some of her famous friends include The Herd star Winnie Ntshaba, former The Queen actress Rami Chuene and reality TV king Somizi Mhlongo. Shauwn and Somizi’s friendship is so deep that he’s made a couple of features on Kwa Mam’Mkhize and she was also a guest at his much-talked-about wedding, which is exclusively available on Showmax.
The first season of the show has come to an end, but you can relive all the fabulous moments of Kwa Mam’Mkhize on Showmax, where it’s available as a super-bingeable boxset.
