Lessons on life from Ray Donovan

There’s plenty you can learn from Hollywood’s fixer, from how to deal with over-dramatic celebrities to turning any object into a lethal weapon. Here we have three of the most important takeaways from the show. When you watch it, you’ll find way more.

1. Actions speak louder than words.

Ray’s not the biggest talker. In fact, it’s often what he’s not saying that will have you most intrigued. But when something’s bothering Ray, he doesn’t complain about it, he actively takes steps to change it. And when he does speak, he’ll get the point across in as few words as possible and doesn’t seem to like the sound of his own voice.

2. Be resourceful.

The guy’s a problem solver. That’s what he does. No matter what the issue is, Ray will use the tools at his disposal to come up with a solution. When Ray fights, he’ll pull Jackie Chan’s favourite move and grab the nearest object and use it with deadly effectiveness. Shot, Jackie, Ray knows!

3. Reputation matters.

It’s often those small things you do that can make or break your reputation: following up to see how people are doing and picking your fights carefully. Ray goes above and beyond for his clients, and they respect him for it. And he doesn’t take sh#t from anyone, ever.
