The River: Lindiwe’s emotional testimony
It looks like Lindiwe is more powerful than we thought. We know she always gets what she wants no matter what it takes, but we never imagined that she’d ever manage to convince Lindani to turn his back on Tumi. But that’s not the only shocking thing that happened on The River last week.
Lindiwe gives the performance of a lifetime
For some odd reason, Lindiwe seems to strongly believe that she has done nothing wrong. In her mind, she didn’t murder Thato Mokoena, and she also didn’t attempt to kill Tumi. And it looks like some people are starting to believe her.
She gave the performance of a lifetime in court and told everyone about her difficult childhood and how hard she’s had it as a black woman. No one can beat Lindiwe when it comes to playing the victim.

Just as we thought she couldn’t do more acting in court, she started singing Senzeni Na? (What have we done?), which is a very emotional Struggle song. Was this enough to change people’s minds about her? Or can everyone see right through her act?
Lindani betrays Tumi
Lindani took the stand and shared details about his relationship with Tumi. He started by telling the court about how he knows her and also revealed details about the day he and Tumi discovered that Lindiwe is her mother.
Things were going well until Lindani switched up and told the court that Lindiwe never tried to kill Tumi. In case you’ve forgotten, Lindani is the only person who saw Lindiwe burying Tumi alive and he’s the one who saved her.

He told the court that he lied in his initial statement because he was trying to support Tumi and her plan to destroy Lindiwe. That’s not all he shared. Lindani also took things further by revealing that Cobra had received a large sum of money from an unknown source, therefore corroborating Lindiwe’s statement about people using the Mokoenas to destroy her. Remember her “white monopoly capital” statement?
So, it looks like Lindiwe finally got her way. After convincing Zweli to be her alibi, she also managed to convince Lindani to turn his back on Tumi. She promised to get Paulina out of jail and well, she kept her promise.

It’s too late, Cobra
While it might look like everyone got their way, Cobra, on the other hand, is not so lucky. After discovering that Angelina lied to him about the paternity of her unborn child, he realised that he had made a big mistake by choosing her instead of Paulina. However, it looks like it might be too late.
Paulina is now out of prison (thanks to Lindiwe) and she wants nothing to do with him.
He has apologised on several occasions and she has made it clear that she just wants to be alone. Will he get her back? Well, the only way to find out is by watching this week’s episodes of The River on Showmax. New episodes air within 15 minutes of the DStv broadcast.
