*Competition closes 11 November 2021.
It’s a rainy morning in Paradise and the episode opens with the core couples and the hot singles seemingly waiting for an announcement in their living rooms. They are relaxed and catching up on the events from the night before. But that’s the calm before the storm as soon after, jaws drop and hearts start racing when host Phat Joe arrives – first, at the men’s mansion, and later at the women’s residence – to inform each group that they’ll be getting rid of the “distractions”. “Two singles are leaving [each] villa today,” says Joe.
Depending on how the couples look at it, eliminations are a good thing. By narrowing down the pool of hot singles, the couples focus their attention on the individuals that they are interested in. Basically, eliminations provide clarity.
So, who leaves and who stays? Let’s find out…
Warning: Spoilers ahead for the sixth episode of Temptation Island South Africa
These singles have got to go
As difficult as it is for the four men to dump two ladies because they’ve formed solid friendships with all the hot singles, they show Zinhle and Lilitha the door. During their brief stay in Paradise, the two ladies have clearly struggled to form romantic connections with either of the men, which resulted in Zinhle and Lilitha feeling out of place. The ladies take the rejection well, and they even throw around a few jokes before their exit. “Please don’t send me any DMs after the show because you’re going to regret [sending me home]. You missed out,” says Lilitha.
Over at the women’s villa, they come to a unanimous decision: S’bu is first on the list. According to the ladies, he is toxic to the villa, especially when he is drunk. He gets into fights with everyone, and they’re tired of his antics. Next, it’s Kwanele to leave. Neither Musa nor Nthabi trusts him after he told both of them that he sees a future with each woman. Kwanele, on the other hand, leaves on a salty note, stating: “I know that I’m a great, fantastic guy. Unfortunately, you’ve settled for less. That’s cool.”
Less is more
After elimination, comes the fun. There’s another dress-up party in both villas and this time the theme is Anything But Clothes. The attire is a cross between ancient Greek outfits and what someone would wear if they were attending a jungle-themed Halloween party. While some of the hot singles and couples are wrapped in light fabric with garland necklaces, some have covered their private parts with a couple of fake leaves.
At the men’s villa, Angelique lays it on thick with Justin. She’s out to entice him, despite his reluctance. “It’s frustrating, you know,” says Angelique during her confessional. “All I’m asking for is cuddles, nothing more. Just hold me,” she adds. If Angelique continues tempting Justin, he might give in to her seduction.
Precious is all over the place
Precious wears her heart on her sleeve. It’s her best character trait and also her biggest flaw. When she’s frustrated, overwhelmed or happy, she cries. But nothing makes her cry more than when she realises that she’s falling for Dain. Precious intends on leaving with her boyfriend Grant, but she also can’t deny her chemistry with Dain.
Overcome with emotion, Precious pulls back from Dain and she asks Uzzi out on a date instead of Dain. Moments later, she regrets her choice and tears stream. After speaking to the women, she cancels her date with Uzzi and decides to go on her third date with Dain. Oh, the drama!
Fire sets at the bonfire
The ladies attend their third bonfire session. There’s nothing out of the ordinary for Musa, Precious and Estelle. But for Nthabi, the experience is dreadful.
Nthabi is loyal. She prides herself in her dedication to her relationship with MJ. When they arrived in Paradise, they claimed that their bond was unbreakable. In their words, nothing could come between them. So when she’s shown clips of MJ and Bontle cuddling, kissing and worse – declaring that they love each other – Nthabi loses it!
“I feel extremely played and I’m very disappointed,” says Nthabi, with her voice breaking… Just like that, she is done with the relationship. There’s no coming back from that kind of betrayal. “I’m an attractive girl and finding someone who truly deserves me won’t be hard,” she says.
Nthabi is officially single and with dates coming up in the next episode, she’ll let loose and get to know the single guys more.
