5 unforgettable moments from the launch of Ultimate Love
Ultimate Love kicked off on 9 February, ushering in a completely fresh television experience in Nigeria: a 24-hour, love-based reality show.
Expectedly, the evening was not without its exciting moments, and as the singles looking for love settle into the Love Pad, we look back at five of the best.
1. Dakore Egbuson Akande co-hosting the launch show
Nollywood actress Dakore Egbuson Akande has been a favourite among fans since her acting debut in the early 2000s. From dabbling in music and representing several brands as brand ambassador, viewers were excited to see the mother of two in a different role – as co-host of the Ultimate Love show. Twitter started buzzing the moment she stepped on stage as many took to the social media platform to comment on her performance.
Dakore will host the Ultimate Love show alongside former radio host and compere, Seun P.
2. Adesuwa Onyenokwe unveiled as Aunty
Just when fans thought all the celebrities for the night had been revealed, veteran broadcast journalist and publisher TW Magazine, Adesuwa Onyenokwe was unveiled as Aunty. Adesuwa, who shared that she has been married for over 32 years and therefore experienced in matters of the heart, will guide the housemates on their journey of love in her role as Aunty.
Adesuwa will be responsible for the housemate alongside her butlers and advised the housemates to “stay open and keep your eyes open”.
3. Meeting the housemates and their parent figures
The housemates were invited on stage in a lucky draw performed by Dakore. Drawn from all walks of life ranging from medicine to business, they numbered 16 in total – 8 men and 8 women. As part of their introductions, the housemates shared their thoughts on love at first sight as well as their love language.
In addition to the housemates, viewers were also introduced to their parent figures. These included family members of the housemates who will serve as their guide during their time in the house. Interestingly, only one housemate had their father as a parent figure.
4. The prize
The hallmark of every reality show is the prize and the one for winning the Ultimate Love show is nothing to sneeze at. Dakore and Seun shared that after 8 weeks in the house, the winning couple, who would emerge by getting the highest number of votes, would go home with 5 million naira, a house and a traditional wedding. It was further revealed that the traditional wedding is subject to a live proposal and the house gift subject to the couple successfully living together for one year.
5. Johnny Drille’s performance
Award-winning singer, Johnny Drille closed the show with an exciting performance of his hit songs, including Romeo & Juliet.
