Band of Brothers
The real story of Easy Company’s mission is brought to life by Hollywood legends Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. And they had $125 million for the 10 episode-drama… back in 2001.
It’s set in Bastogne, Belgium as Easy Company faces the Nazi war machine, making sure that they “leave no man behind”. It’s dark and gritty – what you’d expect from an authentic war drama. Forget heroes who emerge from a bomb blast without a scratch… there’s loads of gore, because this is war.
It’s not just for history fans – the cast alone should convince you to watch: Damian Lewis (Billions), Donnie Wahlberg (Blue Bloods), Neal McDonough (Billions), David Schwimmer (Friends), Michael Fassbender (12 Years A Slave)… and many, many more!
Speaking of the real soldiers, Tom says that “When our days run their course and a man like Dick Winters (Damian’s character) leaves us, time and providence remind us that human beings can do giant things. Dick Winters volunteered to go to war, leading paratroopers into unknown, yet certain, dangers. He led by both command and example; his wartime philosophy was simple: ‘Follow me’.”
The documentary behind the series, We Stand Alone Together: The Men of Easy Company, is also available to stream on Showmax.
