BBNaija Sunday live eviction: Tolanibaj, Wathoni and Brighto get the boot

It’s safe to say that we’re approaching the final stretch of the Big Brother Naija Lockdown season as three housemates got the boot in a most shocking Sunday live eviction show (watch it here). Tolanibaj, Wathoni and Brighto bade their fellow housemates goodbye in the first triple eviction of the season as Ebuka unleashed the drama and tension.

Prior to the eviction show, Big Brother had issued a strike to Kiddwaya for flipping his finger twice at the cameras, disrespecting Biggie and the viewers. Erica did the same once but was given a strong warning instead as she already had two strikes.

Check out these highlights from last week

The live eviction show started with Ebuka probing the housemates on recent happenings before introducing the plot twist that changed the game for both housemates and viewers.

Here’s what went down.

Addressing the ships

Clearly on a mission to shake the tables of all the ships, Ebuka centred his questions around the love birds of the house, a move which was well-received by social media.

He started by congratulating Ozo on his Head of House win for a second time. He also commended Ozo for leading the housemates to win their week’s wager and noted that the two times they won was when he was Head of House.

He then proceeded to ask questions, quizzing Ozo about his take on Prince and Tolanibaj’s relationship. Ozo responded by saying that he doesn’t know what is going on but in his honest opinion, he thinks Prince really likes Tolanibaj because he defended their relationship during the last eviction show. Ebuka went on to ask him if he had noticed Tolanibaj and Neo, adding that Tolanibaj said she likes Neo, and he said he had not.

Ebuka then moved to Dorathy and asked about her thoughts on Wathoni and Brighto. She said she did not know what was going on between them because she is not in their room. Ebuka asked her again if she was really happy for them and she responded that she was.

He then went on to ask Trikytee his thoughts on Nengi and Ozo’s relationship. Trickytee responded saying that they do things people in a relationship do, but Nengi’s actions contradicts her words which are that Ozo is just a friend to her.

Behind the scenes on some of the ships

Ebuka went on to ask if there was any distraction for Nengi and Ozo’s relationship to which he said Neo because he had noticed Nengi and Neo gist a lot. Ebuka slyly asked if Kiddwaya was a problem to their relationship and he said Kiddwaya was not willingly a problem, he was just being the Kiddwaya they all know so he did not think Kiddwaya and Neo were a threat to Ozo and Nengi’s ship.

The eviction process: an unexpected twist

The eviction process was a different ball game which came as a shock to the housemates and viewers too. Viewers voted to save their favourite housemates and unlike the usual process which saw the four with the least votes up for eviction, this time around, the housemates could not save or vote out anyone, it was the viewers who saved the housemates with their votes.

Ebuka started by calling the housemates up for eviction and surprisingly all the housemates were up except the Head of House, Ozo and his deputy, Nengi who already had immunity. Ebuka announced that at least one person will be leaving the House.

Tolanibaj becomes the 7th evicted housemate

The room was filled with tension as the confused housemates waited for the verdict. After a long pause, he announced the seventh evictee for the season – Tolanibaj. Amid shocked expressions, tears and hugs, the housemates bade her goodbye.

Post eviction interview

Following her eviction from the house, Tolanibaj joined Ebuka on stage for an interview. Asked how she felt, she said she was good but confused as a lot was going through her mind. She noted that she will be missed in the Saturday night parties and in the house in general. Ebuka asked her if she thinks Prince will miss her and she said she hopes he does. Talking about her relationship with Prince, she said Prince is too hard to understand and it required patience to be with him but she was not a patient person and she likes action more than words.

After watching her highlights, Ebuka asked her about her conversation with Erica where she said she liked Neo and she refused to comment on it.

After the questions, Tolanibaj shared her plans saying that she is ready to explore a lot of options. She pointed out that she would focus on her YouTube channel and that she intends to set up and hire people for her business.

Wathoni becomes the 8th housemate to be evicted

Wishing them good luck, Ebuka asked all the housemates up for eviction to stand. After a long pause, he announced the eighth evicted housemate to be Wathoni. Amid tears and hugs, the housemates bade her goodbye.

Wathoni chats with Ebuka

Following her eviction from the house, Wathoni joined Ebuka on stage for an interview. She admitted that she expected the eviction and did not expect it at the same time. Ebuka went on to ask about her relationship with Brighto and she responded that she did not see it coming but Brighto made her happy. Remarking on the love triangles she had been in before settling with Brighto, Ebuka asked her if she was trying everyone out and she said she was not. He also asked if she sees a relationship with Brighto outside the house and she said she did not know if they could work outside the house.

After viewing her highlights, Ebuka asked about her issue with Erica and why it always seemed like it was centred around Kiddwaya. She said she did not have anything against Erica but Erica had issues with her. After the questions, she shared that she has plans to go into fashion, and maybe start a baby TV show.

Burning questions

Ebuka shook more tables as he interrogated some housemates on recent happenings in the house. He asked Erica about her thoughts on Neo and Vee. She said she thought Neo would have asked Vee to be his girlfriend by now seeing as they were the strongest couple in the house in her opinion. Ebuka then asked why she encouraged Tolanibaj to go ahead with Neo if she felt Neo and Vee were the strongest couple.

She replied that she did not encourage her to go ahead with Neo but asked her if she was sure, seeing that Tolanibaj and Vee were cool. She added that Tolanibaj told her that Vee said Neo was her friend since he had not asked her to be his girlfriend and she said she (Erica) was going to stay out of it and support whatever decision Tolanibaj made as her friend. When Ebuka asked if that meant she was okay with Tolanibaj breaking the relationship, she said she did not care.

Ebuka moved on to Laycon and asked him about his thoughts on Kiddwaya and Erica’s relationship. He said that he honestly thinks they are good and happy with what they were doing. When asked about any distraction to their relationship, he said he did not know. Ebuka went on to say he asked that because he wanted to know if Laycon himself was a distraction, seeing as he had told some people that Erica had tried to kiss him severally. Laycon said he was not a distraction and as for the kiss, it happened when she was intoxicated.

The plot twist

Just when we thought the storm was over, the unexpected happened. After Ebuka congratulated the housemates on their monetary wins and chided them for being entitled, referring to times when the housemates had said the prize money was small, Ebuka paused dramatically and asked all nominated housemates to stand up. With the room filled with tension, he called the ninth evictee for the season – Brighto, making it the first triple eviction of the season. This shocked the housemates and viewers as social media buzzed with the twist.

Brighto takes the stage

After the eviction, Brighto joined Ebuka on stage for his interview. Referring to him as Lord Baelish, a name fans gave him, Ebuka asked what was going through his mind. He responded saying that he was surprised as he did not see the eviction coming. Ebuka asked him what he felt he did wrong and he said it might be the situationship with Wathoni. He then went on to ask what happened with Wathoni and Brighto said he did not plan to get into a relationship in the house, but he got close to Wathoni and eventually got used to her.

After watching his highlights, Ebuka asked him if rocking the boats in the house was his strategy or that’s just how he is, he responded by saying that’s who he is and there was nothing more to it. While speaking on his plans for the future, he shared that he was more of a career person and he would face his Marine Engineering career, possibly taking more certifications. He also added that if entertainment comes in, he might delve into it.

Another twist

Concluding the show, Ebuka announced a new method of eviction. Starting from Monday, the housemates would no longer vote for the bottom four but will now nominate their fellow housemates for eviction in the Diary Room.
