Brethren S1
Family and duty are not always compatible in this crime series where a group of law enforcement officers fight tirelessly to bring justice to those who run afoul of the law, even as they struggle with personal obligations.
Brethren tells the story of two adopted brothers, Dobara aka Bara and Dagogo aka Dags Kurukeme. Through Bara, we’re introduced to the men and women of the elite crime-fighting squad, Special Crimes Unit (SCU), and the challenges they face in their quest to rid the city of crime, particularly the notorious Aja Isale Eko gang. There’s also the never-ending politicking between the SCU and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). Dags, on the other hand, owns the controversial Club Vesta, which sees him have frequent brushes with the law much to the disappointment of his father.
In parallel, we’re also introduced to the characters of the Benevolent Home for Boys, a reform shelter for boys which produced the Kurukeme brothers and is owned by their highly principled mother, Celestina Kurukeme. Run by the personal funds of the Kurukemes, Celestina finds herself besieged by powerful men who want to buy the shelter from her for sinister reasons.
Brethren is produced by ace Nigerian filmmaker Femi Odugbemi, the brain behind several other successful shows such as Battleground and Tinsel, and stars Akin Lewis, Jide Kosoko, Moyinoluwa Olutayo, Frankincense Eche-Ben, Demola Adedoyin and Etim Effiong
