Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
An adaptation of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen follows a high school senior with Social Anxiety disorder on an unlikely journey of self-discovery and acceptance following the suicide of a fellow classmate.
Evan is played by Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect), who originated the role on stage. Emmy nominee Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart, Unbelievable and the upcoming Ticket to Paradise), Oscar winner Julianne Moore (Still Alice; Crazy, Stupid, Love), six-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams (Arrival, Vice), and Teen Choice winner Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give, The Hunger Games) co-star.
Dear Evan Hansen is directed by Critics Choice nominee Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Wonder) from a screenplay by Steven Levenson (tick, tick…BOOM!, Fosse/Verdon), and boasts a Grammy-nominated soundtrack by Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Emmy winner Alex Lacamoire, and Emmy nominee Dan Romer.
Forbes says Dear Evan Hansen is an “engaging and entertaining passion play, strengthened by a deluge of onscreen talent and subtly directed in a way that opens up the play without calling attention to its stage-bound roots.”
