Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Thirty-two years after the events of Ghostbusters II, a single mom and her two kids move to the Oklahoma farm they inherited from her estranged father, and begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
The film stars Emmy nominees Mckenna Grace (Troop Zero; The Handmaid’s Tale; I, Tonya) and Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age, The Leftovers, Avengers’ Proxima Midnight); the MCU’s Ant-Man, Critics’ Choice Award winner Paul Rudd; MTV Movie Award winner Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, It) and Celeste O’Connor (Freaky, Selah and the Spades) along with Oscar winner JK Simmons, and Emmy nominee Bokeem Woodbine.
Plus, the line-up of cameo appearances from the likes of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver – and some familiar old friends – will thrill fans of the 1984 original.
The film has over 35 million views just for its YouTube trailers, and was nominated for a 2022 Critics’ Choice Super Award nominee for Best Actress in a Sci-Fi Fantasy (McKenna Grace) and a 2022 BAFTA for Best SFX.
With Dan Aykroyd among its executive producers, this fourth film in the franchise is directed by four-time Oscar nominee Jason Reitman (son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original, and himself the director of Juno and Up In the Air), who co-wrote the script with Oscar-nominated Monster House director Gil Kenan.
