Godfather of Harlem is your next crime binge
In brand-new crime series Godfather of Harlem, Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker takes on a new challenge playing respected crime boss Ellsworth “Bumpy” Johnson. He’s based on a real person, and the series delves into this little-known and complex figure who was loved and feared in 1960s Harlem.
Bumpy was a convicted criminal who clashed with the mob, but he was also a powerful force for good in his neighbourhood, a skilled chess player and book lover.
Throughout his fascinating life, he crossed paths with historical figures including Malcolm X, Billie Holiday and Sugar Ray Robinson.
