Have you heard? Sabrina’s coming back to life!
If you weren’t one of the millions of nineties kids watching hit sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch between 1996 and 2003, here’s what you need to know: Melissa Joan Hart plays all-American Sabrina Spellman, who discovers on her 16th birthday that she has magical powers. She has to keep them a secret, but uses her special skills to help her friends and family without them ever knowing. Otherwise she lives a pretty normal life in the town of Riverdale, dealing with all the other challenges regular high schoolers face, from difficult teachers to unrequited crushes.

Sabrina reborn
Now there’s news of a Sabrina reboot coming in 2018/2019, and the one plot point that’s been leaked is that Sabrina’s major love interest, Harvey Kinkle, will also be coming back to life. Sabrina’s relationship with Harvey was one of the most scrutinised TV romances of the late nineties, which (spoiler alert!) ends in heartbreak at the end of Season 4.
The new series will be called The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and though it won’t be a revival of the original series – it’s much darker, for one thing – it will bring fans’ beloved characters back to life.
Check out what the original cast have to say about the new series here.
Melissa Joan Hart after Sabrina
Did you know that as a child, Melissa auditioned for a part in the original It movie? She says it completely freaked her out, and that she avoided horror movies for a long time.
But now, after starring in a number of sitcoms (including Melissa & Joey) she’s just finished directing a new horror film called Watcher in the Woods. It’s a reboot of the famous 1980 horror film of the same name, about a girl who disappeared in the woods 20 years ago, and the family who moves into the house where she used to live. It’s haunted, obviously.
This is the first film Hart has directed that she hasn’t starred in, and it was shot in Wales in “the rainy, swampy like in the woods of this dairy farm”. From what we can see, it looks like a fun horror film for the whole family (rated PG). It was released straight to TV in the States just over a week ago.
