Kelly and Ntombi struggle to fix family issues

Everyone has some experience with family feuds, and Kelly Khumalo’s tribe is no exception. Although the singer has tried again and again to fix her family troubles, things just don’t seem to be working in her favour.

In episode 2 of the second season of her Showmax Original reality show, Kelly and Ntombi decide to attend therapy together. After shedding plenty of tears in the session, they learned a lot about each other and came closer to a resolution, especially when Ntombi revealed her wish to visit her mother’s gravesite.

The gravesite visit

Although Ntombi and her mother had a rocky relationship, she says that she would still like to visit her mother’s gravesite to find some closure.

However, this visit will require a lot of admin, patience and even forgiveness from other family members – an act that makes Kelly reconsider the entire gravesite visit.

Mother and daughter get in contact with a family member, Dumisani, who agrees to show them where the remains lie. However, Dumisani does not want the entire family to be involved as he feels that there are still many unresolved issues.

“If there’s one family with endless issues and feuds, it’s my family. There are always fights and a lot of us don’t get along,” says Kelly.

The unresolved issues

Kelly soon learns that to attend the gravesite they need to inform her aunt, who is seen as the female head of the family. But there’s a spanner in the works: the aunt and Dumisani also don’t get along!

This revelation frustrates Kelly as she doesn’t want to meddle in battles she was never a part of. But she also feels it’s important that her aunt be informed of her and Ntombi’s plans.

It gets more complicated

While telling her aunt what they plan to do, Kelly is advised to also inform other family members (including her estranged sister) about the gravesite visit – which does not sit well with Kelly at all.

“All I wanted to do was to make things right for my mother. I didn’t realise that it would be such a burden,” says Kelly.
