Showmax Spotlights Lilian Omozele Paul: From physicist to award-winning makeup artist
Lilian Omozele Paul is a multi-dimensional makeup artist creating makeup for film production, runways, TV commercials, editorials, bridal, and special effects. She’s also the founder of The Beauty Precinct, an organisation committed to providing exceptional makeover products and services, as well as makeup artistry training.
But first, she is a physicist who earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from the University of Maiduguri in 2005. After school, she worked in the telecommunications industry as a marketer and customer care representative. However, makeup was the one thing that stayed constant throughout these journeys. She had always loved makeup, but never thought she could build a career out of something she considered a hobby.
A friend of hers saw that she had a passion for makeup and encouraged her to take classes to brush up on her skills in order to start a business. So, she headed to Face To Face Beauty School in Johannesburg to get better. Then in August 2011, she established her first makeup business – Flare Beauty. The company specialised in makeovers for fashion and special events, bridal makeup, film production, and future projections in special effects FX, theatrical, and makeup artistry training.
In 2017, she moved on to co-found The Beauty Precinct and has only done great work ever since. As a leading makeup artist, she has featured in several top magazines such as America’s Black Bride Magazine, Genevieve Magazine, ThisDay Style, TW, and Spark.
In 2020, Lilian Omozele Paul earned her first award for makeup in film during the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her work on God Calling. In 2021, Vanguard Allure named her one of six “Fast Rising Makeup Artists in Nigeria”.
Her addition to this list of #WomenOfShowmax is one more feather to her well-decorated cap. We have our fingers crossed to see what this queen does next!
