Roast House episode 1: The most brutal jokes from the roast of Boniface Mwangi
Being a celebrity in Kenya is not easy, one day you’re fighting an unwinnable war with KOT (Kenyans on Twitter), the next, you’re sitting at a club on Koinange Street as a team of roastmasters take turns to make fun of every aspect of your life. The latter, at least, is by choice. Unless, creator Eugene Mbugua has something on the 10 Kenyan celebrities featured on the new comedy TV show Roast House.
The 10-part show which is now streaming on Showmax features a team of comedians from Stand-Up Collective armed with brutal and hilarious roasts aimed at a celebrity in the hot seat.
See below 11 of the most brutal roasts from the first episode of Roast House where activist Boniface Mwangi is on the spot as the celebrity roastee of the night.

On his many troubles with the police due to his activism
“Boniface Mwangi ladies and gentlemen, a jail cell’s wet dream.” – David Macharia
“Bonnie’s entire activism career is basically political BDSM. He keeps going back for more because he loves it (sorry)…he loves us.” – Justine Wanda
“We decided to bring it (the roast) closer to Central Police Station because we want you to feel at home.” – Ruth Nyambura
On his support for Kenya’s top teamaster Edgar Obare
“They (Edgar and Boniface) have a lot of things in common, Edgar runs BNN, Bonnie runs his mouth.” – Ruth Nyambura

On his ‘failed’ political career
“You gave up on politics to become a vlogger. You’re the only activist I know with a rate card.” David Macharia
“He overcame election loss to become a successful relationship coach.” Justine Wanda
On his friendship with Juliani and former Machakos First Lady Lilian Ng’ang’a, and subsequent beef with Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua
“Lilian gave up the prestige, the tenders, the titles, Konza technology city, the F1 track, just to be with her love Juliani, and their lovely third wheel Bonnie.” – John Ribia
“Bobi Wine went against a dictatorial president for his country’s democracy, Bonnie’s biggest nemesis is the creator of Cobra Squad.” Ty Ngachira

On his wife Njeri Mwangi
“We were told categorically not to speak about Bonnie’s wife Njeri, and now that I see her hairstyle, I can understand why.” – Bashir Yusuf aka Halaiki
On his house being vandalised by detonators
“His house in Machakos is the bomb. When you walk into that house, it just blows you away.” – John Ribia
On Boniface Mwangi being a published author and a photojournalist
“I can’t believe people are buying books by a photographer. You’re selling an Instagram feed.” – David Macharia
