As the first troops marched off to fight in World War Two, on the home front, people struggled to keep life as normal as possible. And nowhere more so than at The Halcyon, a glamorous, glittering five-star hotel at the heart of London where the party continues and the champagne keeps flowing.
This is definitely one for lovers of sumptuous period dramas, with Radio Times noting that The Halcyon has a “little bit of Downton Abbey and a little bit of Mr Selfridge in the mix”. It’s produced by the same team as Downton Abbey and The Crown.
Olivia Williams (Counterpart) plays Lady Priscilla Hamilton, a prejudiced aristocrat, while Steven Mackintosh (Underworld: Revolution) plays the hotel’s general manager, Richard Garland.
