“Season 3 peels back the layers like never before,” teased the stars, hinting at more vulnerability, personal battles, and unfiltered truth. If you thought the first two seasons were intense, buckle up – this one is set to hit even harder.
In an exclusive conversation with Xabiso Ngqabe and Zibuyile Dladla, the stars shared personal reflections on the show’s cultural impact and what fans can expect from the upcoming season.
A learning experience for the youth

Toka Mtabane emphasised the educational and relatable nature of the show:
“I get why adults enjoy Youngins — it gives them a nostalgic feel, almost like a modern-day Yizo Yizo. But for young people, it’s more than just entertainment. They see themselves in us , the good and the bad, and it becomes a learning experience. It’s an educational show for kids, without a doubt: holistic and true.”
Reflecting on the cast’s journey together, Mtabane spoke about his personal highlight:
“The bond, absolutely the bond! From Season 1 to Season 2, we’ve grown so close as a cast. That growth has influenced me personally and professionally. What excites me most is how audiences will see that evolution – not just in our characters, but in us as actors and friends. I’m excited to see my own growth, and how it’s shaped my performance.”
“Finally, our stories are being told”

Kealeboga Masango spoke passionately about the show’s importance to her as a young South African:
“Youngins has played a big role in my life. The show tells real stories and brings authenticity to what teenagers and the younger generation go through. It’s had a huge impact on me because, finally, our stories are being told. We dive into what really happens in high school – it’s almost like educating both the older and younger generations.”
She also gave fans a glimpse into what’s next for her character, Buhle:
“In Seasons 1 and 2, Buhle was either hot or cold, there was no in-between. But this season, you’ll see her layers being peeled back. There are more vulnerable moments, and it’s going to be so beautiful. Fans can also expect deeper storylines and some surprising twists with the other characters too.”
Seasons 1 and 2 of Youngins are currently available to binge on Showmax. The release date for the third and final season is yet to be confirmed.
