The River: A dangerous seed planted in Lindiwe’s mind

How many shows will make you scream with anger and laugh with happiness at the same time? Whatever you come up with, add The River to the list. The 1Magic telenovela continues to take fans on an epic journey filled with highs and lows. And, if the past week’s action is anything to go by, we reckon there’s so much more where that came from. If you missed it, here’s a recap.

(Stream The River every weekday on Showmax, where episodes land on the same day as the 1Magic broadcast.)

Lindiwe wants a divorce

Oh no, say it ain’t so! It looks like Sheree is finally getting what she’s always wanted. What once looked like a happy marriage could end very soon. After everything they’ve overcome together, including almost losing a child to suicide, Lindiwe and Zweli Dikana are headed for splitsville. Well, that’s if Lindiwe goes ahead with the divorce. The powerful businesswoman is determined to take her husband to the cleaners for what she believes he has done to her.

Last week, viewers watched in disbelief as Lindiwe consulted a lawyer about divorcing her husband – all of this without even hearing his side of the story. For someone as clever and powerful as she is, we would have expected her to dig a little deeper to find the truth, instead of believing Sheree’s lies.

We were shocked after realising that the mining boss is willing to do whatever it takes to get revenge – even if it means making her husband disappear. Will she actually go that far?

How will this affect the children?

As you know, when parents divorce the children are also affected. If what we’ve seen in the Dikana household is anything to go by, this divorce is not going to be pretty. Lindiwe and Zweli’s children have started feeling uncomfortable in their home as their parents are always at each other’s throats. They’ve even admitted that this is the biggest fight their parents have ever been in. Prepare those tissues, everybody. We have an emotional rollercoaster coming up.

Sheree is still playing the victim

If you’ve been wondering how Sheree sleeps at night, we reckon she sleeps like a baby. After all the lying and scheming she has done so far, you’d think she’d have some regrets. But no, she couldn’t be bothered.

The fake professor continues to play the innocent victim in all of this and has somehow managed to convince Lindiwe that she’s on her side, because, you know, this whole thing of sisters sticking together. Now that her bestie Lindiwe has asked her to testify against Zweli in court, will Sheree actually stand there under oath and lie? Judging from her past actions, we have no doubt that Ms Jacobson will have no trouble doing just that!

Malefu’s stokvel saves the day

Just when we were ready to give up on Oupa and Cobra’s bakery, Malefu saves the day. If you recall, the business partners were tasked with baking 200 loaves of bread for the prison. The deal came with a lot of drama and saw them almost turning against each other because of frustration.

Just as they were ready to throw in the towel, Malefu came up with a plan. The staunch Christian asked her stokvel ladies to help Cobra and Oupa with the task and they worked tirelessly to see this through. It seems like everyone wants the ex-convicts to succeed. And, if everything works in their favour, they might just turn their lives around. We all deserve a second chance, right?
