The River: kidnappings, a lost lover and heartbreak

Lies have a funny way of catching up with you. Just ask Nomonde Dikana. Zweli’s oldest daughter found herself in a horrific situation with no one to turn to all because of her lies. After her fake kidnapping story reached her family, they vowed to never believe anything that comes out of her mouth again. And now, when she needed them the most – after being abducted by Mantwa – Nomonde realised that she had lost her family for good.

Mantwa shoots Nomonde

Her last hope was to reach out to Vero, who knew that she was in real danger this time. Vero tried to warn Zolani and Lindiwe about Nomonde’s situation but it was a little too late. Instead of panicking, Lindiwe decided to plan a family vacation. She told Zweli and the rest of her family that she’s taking them to the Maldives and they were all excited.

Just as the Dikanas were daydreaming about the crystal clear water and sipping cocktails, Nomonde called to ask for help. She somehow managed to escape the room Mantwa was keeping her in. Nomonde was also lucky enough to find a phone and could call her family. However, she failed to convince Zweli that she was in danger.

After several failed attempts, she finally managed to get her father to listen to her pleas. While he was listening to Nomonde crying and begging, Mantwa fired a shot. Zweli, who was listening on the other side of the phone, was left in shock. Will he blame himself for ignoring her?

Is Nsizwa dead?

The Dikanas aren’t the only ones dealing with a lot right now. Things are also not going great in Refilwe. After proposing to Kedibone, things started looking up for Nsizwa. He was in a good space for the first time in a while and was also excited about finally getting a date for his dialysis. Nsizwa and Kedibone were planning a future together and thinking about how they would finally get their happy ending.

However, things took a turn for the worse. The lovebirds took a nap and when it was time to wake up, Nsizwa was unresponsive. Kedibone tried her best to get him up but he wasn’t moving. Mabutho also came to assist and even felt his pulse, but things didn’t change. Kedibone still had hope and continued begging Nsizwa to wake up, while Mabutho had clearly lost hope.

What a sad scene – we can’t wait to see what happens next. Watch The River S3 every week, streaming on Showmax.
