The River: Will Lindani expose Tumi’s damning secret?

We didn’t expect Lindani to be back so soon. Does that mean his heart is already on the mend, or is he still hoping to make things right with Tumi? The newly single Lindani made an unexpected return to Refilwe, just in time for Tumi and Mabutho’s engagement and lobola negotiations. Yes, you read that right!

In less than three years, Tumi is preparing for her third marriage and this time, she’s walking down the aisle with her ex’s cousin. How lucky can one person be? Mabutho surprised Tumi by sending a letter to her family revealing his intentions. Everyone, including the bride-to-be, was shocked. He didn’t discuss his plans with her before sending the letter.

Third time lucky?

Just because she wasn’t ready, it doesn’t mean she turned him down. Not too long after that, Tumi was beaming as she had a new rock on her finger.

After that not-so-glamourous proposal, Mabutho asked Paulina and Khabzela to represent him at the lobola negotiations. It didn’t take much convincing because it seems like everyone has accepted the new relationship.

Although their loved ones are now comfortable with the idea of them together, we’re not so sure about Lindani. Shortly after his return he was informed about the engagement. While he acted like he was unbothered after finding out, it’s quite obvious that he’s not completely fine.

Lindani discovers Tumi’s secret

Whether or not Lindani has made peace with his new reality doesn’t really matter because plans for the wedding are going ahead. The Dikanas and the Dhlomos met and they settled on R40 000 for lobola. After the negotiations were finalised, Tumi and her husband-to-be were seen talking outside the Dikana mansion. Tumi couldn’t hide her excitement and asked what she had done to deserve a man like Mabutho.

“You’ve accepted me with all my flaws, brightness and darkness,” she told him. He assured her that everyone in this world is flawed. “I’ve also done many bad things in my life. But you have a good heart,” he told Tumi.

She then brought up the fact that people with good hearts don’t kill their family, especially not their sisters. “It doesn’t matter who it is, Mabutho. What matters is that I killed someone innocent. Mbali is gone and I’m here. I have a guilty conscience.” That’s a conversation they thought they were having in private but Lindani was standing right behind them and overheard everything, before walking away.
