Uthanda Bani: Are sangomas destroying Klaas’s family?
Have you ever heard of someone who’s addicted to sangomas? Well, it turns out such addicts do exist, as we see in the fifth episode of Uthanda Bani.
Tired of his partner’s many sangoma consultations, Klaas decides to reach out to Uthanda Bani for assistance. Since marrying his wife in 1984, they’ve built a home together and have children. However, his wife’s alleged addiction could destroy what was once a solid foundation.
Klaas told Basani: “I want to get rid of whatever is in my body,” he said, adding that whenever he gets ready for bed, a problem starts.
“The minute I start to undress, my body starts itching. There are things in my room, and I think I sleep around them.” Klaas suspects that his wife is the cause of what he’s been experiencing.
Should Klaas be scared?
Klaas then shows Basani the blisters on his tummy. “They trouble me at night. They’re itchy at night. I don’t know what’s biting me. I told my wife and she said there’s more to come,” he shared. His wife allegedly told him not to be scared because those things won’t kill him.
Klaas has asked his wife to seek help, but she has refused. “I suggested we go to church or a sangoma. When I talk to her, she tells me to go see them alone.” Apparently the problems in their home are because of Klaas and she doesn’t want to get involved. However, he believes that her love for sangomas is what landed him in this mess.
His wife and kids, on the other hand, have a different version of events. They appeared on the show claiming that he’s embarrassing their family. He also apparently abuses everyone at home. “To avoid us abusing him, he should leave us and my mother in peace,” one of his daughters said.
Whose sangoma is it any way?
They refuted Klaas’s allegations about their mother’s love for sangomas. “I went to the clinic, and they told me that he needs to come in for these blisters. I feel bad because he’s accusing me of things that he’s responsible for,” she said. His wife said Klaas is the one who’s been visiting sangomas.
“I’m shocked that he is saying I’m addicted to sangomas, while he is the one who is addicted to them.”
The family couldn’t come to an understanding about the issue and Basani brought someone who will help them see things differently. Faith, who is spiritually gifted, confirmed that there are unclean spirits in their yard.
“Whichever sangoma you went to, to try and protect yourself from your father, did something he has no knowledge of,” she told the family. She added: “Whatever he’s been giving you or doing in the yard ended up leaving those creatures here too.”
She advised them to work together as a family to get rid of the spirits. Basani also gave the family some words of wisdom before leaving.
“We’ve all done something to hurt each other. And you know what you did to each other or what the situation is in the family. With that in mind, I want each of you to address the family and ask for forgiveness for the part they played to contribute to the pain that’s in the family,” she said.
That’s exactly what they did and vowed to move forward on a clean page.
