The Roast of Helen Zille vs The Mommy Club reunion moments
This past weekend, Showmax turned up the heat and delivered back-to-back fire with The Showmax Roast of Helen Zille and The Mommy Club Season 3 reunion. Between the savage burns and brutally honest callouts, viewers were left gasping, laughing, and even cringing a little.
Here’s a spicy recap of some of the most jaw-dropping quotes and moments that had us glued to our screens.
The Showmax Roast of Helen Zille – The Real Housewives feel the burn
As is tradition at a roast, no one is safe. And yes, that includes fan favourites Mel Viljoen and Londie London, who got roasted like marshmallows at a campfire.

Trevor Gumbi on Mel Viljoen:
"She's a ‘nail entrepreneur,’ and she's also a recurring guest on Carte Blanche."
Loyiso Gola on Londie London:
“I was backstage talking to Londie London. She likes criminals. She asked me for my number and I gave it to her. She was like, ‘No, no - case number!’ Londie’s love language is a docket."
The Mommy Club – Taking accountability gets real
Despite being the most watched reality series on Showmax this year, Season 3 of The Mommy Club faced criticism for its heavy-handed drama and allegations of bullying - some even aimed at production. But the reunion brought a surprising twist: the cast actually addressed it head on.

Mrs J to the cast:
"It ended up being The Bully Club; it had nothing to do with production. Production will never put words in your mouth. Editing will not put words in Mrs J’s mouth. The Mommy Club is a beautiful concept, but if we can focus, focus on us as the cast - what did we do to make this season horrible?"
Meanwhile, Mrs Sande faced heat for being called a hypocrite after some spicy diary session commentary. When confronted, she didn’t shy away from accountability.
Mrs Sande:
“In most cases, I struggle to express myself. When something happens, I’m scared to go back and defend or say something. I don’t know how... Sometimes I don’t know how to address things in a polite way. I’m working on my flaws daily."
The Roast: Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh vs Trevor Gumbi - The battle of the burns
This roast segment was pure gold. Watching Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh and Trevor Gumbi go back and forth was like witnessing sibling rivalry at its wittiest.

Trevor Gumbi on Sizwe:
“His podcast is a clanker. And he’s got the complexion of an uncooked pork banger! We’ve got Dali Mpofu’s alleged son here. Possibly the sexiest model C child I know. He looks like a sexy Cambodian boy, Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh!"
Sizwe on Trevor:
“Thanks Tumi, thanks Trevor. But why are you guys dressed like you got your clothes at MaMkhize’s jumble sale?”
Sizwe on Trevor:
"Also, Trevor, at least I know where to find my father, okay?
Trevor after Sizwe’s set:
"You did so well, Sizwe. I have no idea why your father started that WhatsApp group about you. It’s going to be okay one day bro, I promise.”
The Mommy Club: Vuyi vs Mrs J - The ancestral showdown
The most intense moment of The Mommy Club reunion part 1? Hands down, the spiritual (and very spicy) face-off between Vuyi and Mrs J.

Vuyi to Mrs J:
"You know what? I don’t like ancestors who are pulled out of the cupboard when it’s convenient, and then shoved back in when it’s not."
Oof!
Vuyi confirmed that she has also undergone a traditional initiation ceremony (to accept her spiritual calling), though she hasn’t yet completed the process. In response, Mrs. J said:
”But you seem to know so much for someone who says she hasn’t finished. What’s surprising is that the second part of your process wasn’t even done correctly. You say you didn’t complete it, yet now you want to be an expert on something I’ve actually completed."
Don’t miss the drama!
The Showmax Roast of Helen Zille and The Mommy Club Season 3 reunion part 1 are now streaming on Showmax.
Catch part 2 of The Mommy Club reunion on 24 May 2025.
